World Cup Astrology - Luis Suarez - A time bomb waiting to go off...

luis suarez

Yesterday saw an appalling incident as brilliant but unpredictable Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez bit one of his Italian opponents. He has form doing this kind of behaviour as he has twice before been banned from football for biting, first when he played for Dutch club Ajax and more recently for his current employers Liverpool FC.

New Moon in Cancer - Felling confident, alive and willing to take a risk.

Holding baloons
This is occurring on 27th June 2014 or 26th June in the US and Americas.

We are approaching a new Moon in Cancer in a couple of day's time occurring at 09.08 hrs London time on Thursday 27th June. This New Moon occurring in the emotional and watery sign of Cancer will accentuate feelings and intuition this time around. As you will know, each new Moon brings a new quality to our lives and poses us a question too. The last new Moon in Gemini asked us what ideas we had and what new thoughts we were considering. This time out the New Moon asks us to look inside ourselves and the consider what we feel, not in just immediate terms within our relationships but also in the wider context about our families and about the past too. What lessons from the past can we apply to our lives now, how can our families help us and how can we strengthen our personal security and the ties between ourselves and the ones we love?

Jupiter conjunct Procyon - Brief opportunities and fleeting success.

small doggy

This connection begins on Tues 24th June lasting through until 2nd July at 25.59 degrees Cancer

The star Procyon is the alpha star in the constellation of Canis Minor, the small dog. Procyon rises just before Sirius, a star of immense talent, and this star shows a quick rise in stature but one where the gains will not be held for very long. Like a shooting star, it may wonderful to look at but the spectacle is over just after it's begun. The lesson here is to grab onto anything good you can before it has faded away. In the transition from Procyon to Sirius (the next major star in line) Procyon is also a star of changing from one situation to the next.

This star has generally been held in good regard by the star-watchers of old, and Elsbeth Ebertin followed the idea of Procyon being a star of promise but not very long lasting when she said that it heralded "a rise and successes, but a fall from high position later". Robson in his look at these two bodies together indicated that it brought "many journeys, trouble through relatives and the Church or law, help from friends".

This star does suggest that whatever opportunities and luck that does come along now will be fleeting in nature, however if you grab hold of it while it is there then you may be able to do really well. I think this combination is all about seizing a chance and making the most out of every ounce of talent and fortune that arrives. For example if someone offers you the prospect of doing something new now take them up on it as chances are that you won't be offered again. Just be aware that anything you will achieve won't last forever, so live and enjoy for the moment.
A prime example of someone born with Jupiter conjunct Procyon was Jimi Hendrix. His Jupiter was square to his Midheaven, so the gifts he was given were connected to his career which as everyone knows shot him to worldwide fame for a short while, but as we also all realise his life was cut very short indeed.

In the world around us, the politicians and leaders of the world may get a moment or two make a big difference to affect their nations, however the window of opportunity to make a difference will not be a long one and even if they do make progress and gains now, how long lasting they will be is open to question. Anyone who gains fame and fortune now will be someone who will be in the public eye one minute, then pretty anonymous the next…

Venus conjunct Alcyone - Seeing just one side of the story.

the 7 sisters

This conjunction will be active on 23rd and 24th June at 0:22 degrees Gemini.

The star Alcyone is one of the most prominent ones in the night sky, the most visible of the stars in the nebula of the Pleiades which sits in the constellation of Taurus the Bull. This cluster of stars known as the 7 sisters marked the month when prayers were said for the dead and so they have always had a darker side of life attributed to them, as they always rose at sunset around All Hallow's Eve, the time we now call Halloween. Alcyone as a star represents the third eye, it has insightful, mystical and visionary properties but also a tough, ruthless judgmental and angry side to it too. Nebulae are often connected to blindness if the connections to them are difficult, but not in the literal sense. One can be blind to a possibility too, narrow minded and unable to see an alternative.

Venus is the planet of money, relationships and beauty and in our charts it plays out the function of the things we are most attracted to. With this combination now active we may be harsh or judgmental on the one we love at this time, so be careful to rock the boat in relations to the one you love, it will be easy to be oblivious to everything going on around you and for you to only see your side of the story. The same kind of situations may crop up in regard to things you own or your own personal security. My tip for you is to try and put yourself in someone else's shoes for the days that this aspect is active to appreciate what your other half wants and needs. Robson says of this nebula that it brings "immoral values, strong passions, disgrace through women, sickness, loss of fortune" although the old fashioned astrologers were always more fatalistic in their approach to looking at things.

In the wider world, I fear that social situations may become a little one sided in the way that people are seeing things, in essence blinded to the truth and this of course can cause divisions and anger. Tears and sorrow have always accompanied connections to Alcyone often surrounding matters of life and death and somewhere in the world (my instincts go out to the missing Israeli teenagers in the West Bank) I think you will find social mourning as a result of the loss of someone dear or loved.
