Frankel – Wonder horse setting record after record.

Frankel

A horoscope for a horse?? Well why not, as they have birthdays, have their own character and live on the same earth as the human population. Frankel is a very very special horse. Unbeaten in 12 top class races and one of the highest rated horses of all time, he has one of his stiffest tests yet today as he enters the 15.40 Juddmonte Stakes at York, taking on a new challenge as he will be running over 10 furlongs, 2 furlongs further than he normally runs. Will he have the stamina to post himself down in some eyes as one of the best racehorses ever to have lived?

Pussy Riot trial divides Russia and enrages the music world.

Pussy Riot

In the UK we understand the power of protest and the the right for free speech, especially in artistic forms. Tell me another country in the world which would allow an excerpt from the punk anarchist anthem “God Save the Queen” by the Sex Pistols to be played at the open ceremony of their own Olympic Games with the serving monarch of the day in attendance? I bet you can’t. In Russia, the authorities are not so enamoured by such behaviour. In a trial that is catching world headlines, Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, and Yekaterina Samutsevich all members of the female Punk protest group “Pussy Riot” have just been found guilty of hooliganism, after performing an anti Putin protest song in Moscow's Christ the Saviour cathedral in February and have been sentenced to 2 years in jail. As ever there is an astrological story behind the events in Moscow right now, and glimpsing ahead, this could be a seminal moment in the future of modern Russia.

Paul Ryan – Bold, deeply conservative and with time on his side.

Paul-Ryan

Over the weekend, Mitt Romney picked his running mate and to many it was a surprise. He chose a brave option in the bold and brash but rather inexperienced Paul Ryan, a congressman from Wisconsin. Seeing as the race is tight, I thought that he might chose quite a heavyweight candidate maybe to tip the balance in his favour, but I was mistaken. Let’s look at Paul Ryan and his own prospects to become vice President, and what light it shines on the impending presidential race.

The rebirth of a proud (and slightly bonkers) nation.

london closing ceremony

The party’s over, but what a party it’s been!! As someone who hails from London, this morning I am welled up with enormous pride. Last night, at the end of the closing ceremony of the most fabulous Olympic Games ever, I shed a tear or two and I suspect I wasn’t alone. In Britain we will never forget the last two weeks. We invited the world to our wonderful eccentric country, we opened our hearts and the love poured out. And you know what? In the process, we as a nation found a new self-confidence; Britain transformed live on TV before your very eyes.
