David Cameron & Nick Clegg – The honeymoon is over

Sorry that I haven’t been blogging so much recently. I have had a few other priorities in my life other than writing, as sometimes happens. This is going to be a short but interesting piece, especially I suspect for followers of the British political scene. The recent perceived disagreements between Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron and his Liberal Democratic coalition partner Nick Clegg took a turn for the worse this week as Clegg (pro-European) failed to appear at the House of Commons in support of the Prime Minister after he failed to come to any agreement with European colleagues in Brussels at a summit where the future of the Euro and the make-up of the European Union were at stake. By leaving the negotiations, Britain has been left “on the side-lines” as the other EU members discuss closer economic union as a way of solving the crisis engulfing the continent.

Eclipse Watch – An upcoming look at the next solar eclipse on 25th November 2011

I have always been fascinated by eclipses, maybe because I am closely associated with the Sun being a Sun sign Leo by birth. The Solaris name I use came to me on the day of a solar eclipse, and the effects of them and the ramifications of the totality point is something I study with great interest. The last eclipse of 1st July caused havoc for many across the world and as I have mentioned on this blog, the effects of that cardinal cross eclipse are still being felt.

Riots in the UK – The Uranus Pluto square part 2. The crackdown has started.

All astrological aspects tend to have more than one meaning. Whereas one set of people will use an aspect in one way, somebody else will use it another way. Being an Astrologer, in prediction it is often very hard to pin down the correct outcome of what will happen because of double meanings. Sometimes you get an effect and then a reaction to that effect.

As the riots hit their peak in the UK I reported about the Uranus Pluto square which was being turned into a t-square by a connection to Mars. Yesterday, the reaction came. Two internet users who incited rioting from their computers via Facebook were convicted to 4 years in prison!! They didn’t loot a shop, they didn’t burn down any buildings, they just set up a Facebook page and suggested their friends meet up and have a riot. Certainly I cannot condone such an action, encouraging people to commit crime is an offence, but 4 years?? Smacks of a complete over-reaction to the situation, doesn’t it?

The crackdown comes as a result of the “other” side of the Uranus Pluto square. As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, Uranus is shocking violent acts and Pluto can mean mass destruction. There is another side to these planets in connection. Uranus is a social planet associated with technology and Pluto can also mean harsh restriction. In effect, a crackdown on social media. The t-square with Mars is still in force, but now Mars has moved on to conjunct with the UK Midheaven. The decisions made police and authorities represented by Mars are now having a public effect. The transiting Sun is also directly square the UK Saturn so the Government are supportive of these harsh measures. Transiting Jupiter is trine the UK Sun, so the legal processes is being overloaded (2000 court cases in just over a week) and with transiting Jupiter conjunct the UK natal Mars, the authorities are being over zealous in the punishments they are handing out. Finally, transiting Saturn is hitting the UK South Node, a very difficult and authoritarian position. No wonder the more liberal members of society are reacting with disgust to the sentences being given.

Pluto as I have said before never knows when to stop and we in the UK are now on the receiving end of the harsh energies it encourages, both in the cause of the riots and now the hard-line retaliation by those in charge. Restricting social media, tapping into BlackBerry messenger by the police; all these issues are being discussed and quite frankly if measures like these are taken and passed into law, it will only incite more vitriol from those in society who have incorporated these things into their daily life. The youth of the UK live by social media. The last thing you want to do is incite another riot by disaffecting them even more, do you?

I only hope that some common sense can be found in the wreckage of what is going on right now in Britain. Those in charge should be using their energies and intelligence to find a more permanent solution to the considerable problems in the country, especially to those on the edges of society, otherwise when transiting Pluto conjuncts the UK natal Sun in January 2013**, all hell may break loose.

London Olympic Games 2012 – Potential worries with one year to go. A look at the astrology of the opening day.

In about one year from now, the 30th Olympic games open in London, my home city. I write with just a little pride as we in London prepare to open our doors and hearts to the world. We in Britain are true sports fans, partisan for our own athletes but also fair in praise to others who do well. We do have our own unique style in the UK and despite the weather (it will rain) and the economic gloom across the globe, one thing the British know how to do is have a party. However just before the games begin, the same aspect that has rocked London in August 2011 returns once more. I look at the astrology of the opening day, the one that sets the scene for the month of sport and competition that follows.

The opening ceremony is due to start on 27th July 2012 at around 19.30. It is due to end at 22.30, but these things never run to time. So I am basing the chart on lighting the flame at 22.30. This gives a 5th house Sun and Mercury conjunction in proud Leo, very apt for an event embracing sport and competition. This makes a mini grand trine with Uranus in the 1st house and Jupiter on the cusp of the 2nd and 3rd. Uranus in the 1st trine Mercury is all about technology and as we know Britain is one of the world’s leading creative forces in graphics and design. Watch out for some stunning technical effects in the opening ceremony. Jupiter at the point of the mini grand trine and is in Gemini. This says communication out to the world, a multi cultural experience. Seeing as the stadium itself in Stratford in the heart of the East End which is a melting pot of cultures, I am sure that the highlight of these Games will be the open accessibility to all peoples & nations. Jupiter is optimistic and jovial, this is going to be one long party.

There is a very dynamic t-square from Uranus in Aries in the 1st house to Mars in Libra in the 7th square to Pluto in Capricorn in the 10th. Here is competition at it’s fullest with so much Aries (Mars) influence with a social angle (Libra) striving for the ultimate achievement (Pluto). Uranus makes a quindecile to Saturn in the 7th – this aspect equates to pushing back the boundaries – will there be an exceptional amount of records set in these games? One the debit side the Mars, Uranus and Pluto square is an inherently dangerous aspect and the potential spectre of violence, disruption and terror will hang over the Games. The exact hit of this square comes in the week preceding the opening ceremony. In seeing what has happened over the past few days in London, and knowing that the same aspect taking hold in one year from now as the one that is causing mayhem in London right now, I genuinely fear for what may happen. One thing I am sure of is this. Londoners are a stoical bunch, and there will be a severe reaction from us towards anyone who tries to ruin this celebration of sport and of our city; something we have been preparing 6 years for.

Venus in the 3rd is colourful, creative and elegant. The venues are exceptional and iconic (I include a few photos at the bottom) and Venus makes a trine to Saturn showing a connection to the structures & buildings in the Olympic park. In this aspect there is an aspect of security (Venus is ruled by Taurus) which will be much heightened during the event.

The two other planets in the chart will be peregrine (unaspected by any major aspect) when the games are opened. It is quite unusual for one to be peregrine, for two is most unusual. The Moon in the 8th in Scorpio and Neptune in the 12th in Pisces. Both of these two planets will dominate the chart. The Moon in the 8th in Scorpio smacks to me of big business, yet with no aspect, there is a disconnect here. The Olympics need the finance of big business to exist, but unusually no visible advertising is allowed to be shown during the games around the venues. With a quindecile (not a major aspect) to Jupiter, these games financially I believe will be a roaring success.  The other planet is Neptune, here is the dream, the aspiration, the spirit, the cheating and deception. With Neptune so prominent in it’s own sign of Pisces, I fear drugs and controversy will rear their ugly head once again.

The Uranus Pluto square – Britain burns. Riots in Tottenham, Lewisham, Hackney, Peckham and right across London.

Just at the moment we are experiencing one of the most difficult square formations I have seen in my lifetime, a close formation involving a Uranus/Pluto square. The last time we saw a Uranus Pluto connection on this scale was back in the revolutionary mid-to late sixties when Uranus and Pluto were in conjunction. There were a string of coups and internal uprisings across the world. This square is likely to be more potent and destructive as it is in cardinal signs, the conjunction was in mutable Virgo. This square started to take a firm hold last Summer in June/July and is going to stay in operation for the next 3-4 years. Uranus in action is the harbinger of shocking things, of accidents; it encourages unpredictable and rebel action. Uranus is also a very socially orientated planet, connected with technology. You never know how a connection to Uranus will pan out, other than you know something will happen. Uranus picks you up by the bootlaces and drags you into the unknown. Pluto as I have said many times before either destroys all in it’s path or it blocks things up completely so nothing can move, forcing major action to happen to shift the blockage. Pluto clears a path so that new structures can be built. It encourages metamorphosis, allowing change and the ability to renew in the future. Pluto can be responsible for underground action, for depravity, for torture, death and destruction. Right now both planets connected are in cardinal signs. Cardinal signs encourage positive action, they encourage one to put your foot forward & to move on. This is especially representative of the sign Aries, and Uranus is now sitting there. Putting both Pluto and Uranus together in a tension aspect as we have now and already you have seen the power and potential for massive social change.

Right now, Uranus and Pluto are being joined by Mars. Mars is aggression, the planet of war and violence and right on cue across London simmering anger over the shooting of Mark Duggan at point blank range by the police turned to violence. There is a police investigation going on to find out why that action was taken, however this trigger point gave the excuse for the arson, violence and looting to begin. Pluto is in Capricorn the planet of authority, of administration, government and businesses. London and the UK are affected as the UK Ascendant lies at 7 Libra, right in the firing line of a square from transiting Pluto. In London, we have seen all these elements I explained combining. Enraged rebel groups using technology and violence to target businesses, shops and the police. The social and technological element of this square make it almost impossible to hold down. In London BlackBerry messenger, twitter, mobile phones and other social media have allowed the trouble to spread like a wildfire. In the Arab world, the effect has been the same. Internet cafes were the focal point to co-ordinate the attacks on the dictatorships first Tunisia, then Egypt fell, then Yemen. Libya is in a protracted struggle for change as is Syria. Governments and authorities are struggling to contain the speed and connectivity of the rioters, who can change tactics as fast as the local police and forces can. This is an element that they will have to get used to, and fast otherwise mob rule and anarchy could take over the streets as this vicious square continues to wreak havoc.

 

Worrying times then. So, what does the future hold? Mars in the next couple of days will tighten this square to become exact so more than likely the violence, looting of shops and trouble in London will get worse. As I write, areas in Hackney and Lewisham are seeing trouble and I fear that by midweek, what we see now in London could turn even nastier and spread across the UK, this is a situation affecting the whole country. The current t-square may hit it’s peak by midweek, the 10th/11th August. Following on what is happening now, we may see something dramatic happen around the 17th August 11 as the July 1st solar eclipse degree (9:12 Cancer) is activated by transiting Mars. I’m not just talking in the UK here. Then Venus moves in to square Uranus and Pluto in mid September. The next real pinch point will then be November this year, as transiting Mars makes a square to it’s position right now as well as being square to it’s own eclipse degree point 7:17 Gemini late in the month. On 27th November Pluto returns to it’s eclipse degree point 6:07 Capricorn, something I have pointed out in a previous post. As Venus, Mars and the faster moving planets connect back to the on-going Uranus/Pluto square the potential for a major events erupting like the London riots is a definite possibility. This pattern will continue on for the next couple of years; I think it is going to be a very bumpy ride.

4th / 10th August – Mars at 2-6 Cancer square to Uranus Pluto square

17th August – Mars hits 9:12 Cancer (the eclipse degree of July 1st 11)

16th /19th Sept – Venus at 2-6 Cancer square to Uranus Pluto square

22nd Sept – Venus at 9:12 Cancer (the eclipse degree of July 1st 11)

27th Nov – Mars at 7 Virgo (square to her own July 1st eclipse degree of 7:17 Gemini)  - Pluto at 6:07 Capricorn returns to exact position of 1st July.

25th Mar 2012 – Uranus at 4:32 Aries (the eclipse degree of July 1st 11)

10-18 Jul 2012 – Mars at 3-9 Libra square to Pluto & opposite to Uranus. This comes just over one week before the London Olympics - London Olympics chart - 1 year to go

Pluto Uranus and Mars in action – Here are some of the latest pictures of the anarchy on the London streets in the past couple of days…

The United Kingdom – Feeling the full effects of the July solar eclipse as the phone hacking scandal rages on.

The United Kingdom is being buffeted by the current hacking scandal which is extending into Parliament, the press, the police and into everyone’s consciousness. The current situation exploded into life on 4th July when a lawyer for the Milly Dowler family found out from the police that her mobile had potentially been hacked by a News of the World journalist. The latest solar eclipse happened on the 1st July and when put against the UK natal chart one can see immediately why this eclipse is rocking the UK to it’s foundations. So far the eclipse has claimed the scalps of several former News of the World employees (Andy Coulson, Rebekah Brookes), News Corporation and News International employees close to Rupert Murdoch (Les Hinton), John Yates, the assistant commissioner of the Metropolitan police and the fallout may continue to spread to those in Number 10 Downing Street and across the globe to wherever Rupert Murdoch had media interests, maybe in Australia and in the US.

The UK natal chart harks back to the formation of the Union of the UK on 1st January 1801 in Westminster, London at midnight. This gives a Capricorn Sun in the 4th house of democracy directly opposite the Midheaven representing the head of State (the Queen) & the Moon in Cancer which represents the people is in the 10th house of government – the perfect place for a democratic system where the people have the ultimate power to hire and fire. The Cancerian Moon shows a propensity for security of the nation at all cost, hidden emotion behind an outer shell, the “stiff upper lip” we are known for, and a openness for women to get to the top. With a Libran Ascendant, the British play by the rules and expect everyone else in the world play fair too, and as a result the people get rather upset as when those expectations are flouted by others. Saturn showing government and authority is in the 11th house of groups and associations, very representative of a party political system. We find Uranus conjunct the Libran ascendant and this gives the UK a quirky individualism and a national tendency for rebellion and protest. Venus and Pluto in the 5th house is hugely creative as is Neptune in the 2nd house which is in a most musical position, the UK has been at the forefront of music and culture in the world, but Neptune here also shows the propensity to make money through the sea and sailing (the UK once had a huge merchant shipping operation) as well as it contributes confusion over finances – the UK’s financial record has always been very bumpy. Mercury in the third in Sagittarius screams free press an open tolerant attitude to religion (Gemini ruled by Mercury is on the cusp of the 9th house of knowledge & beliefs) and Mars in the 8th in Taurus shows a very steady and dedicated armed forces and an aggressive attitude to financial relations with other countries. Indeed with Aries ruled by Mars on the cusp of the 7th of foreign relations, one can say that the UK has a pioneering spirit, although sometimes too aggressive for it’s own good.

Now as I mentioned the UK has cardinal signs on the angles of it’s chart, the UK Midheaven is at 9 degrees 20 minutes Cancer and the Solar eclipse of the 1st July at 9 Cancer was a direct hit on that Midheaven, and this being a Cardinal cross formation, all 4 angles of the UK chart were affected. Saturn was close in conjunction to the UK ascendant, Pluto close to the IC at the bottom of the chart and Uranus within striking range of the Descendant. Solar eclipses are known to be malefic wherever they strike on a chart, and especially if they hit an angle. This is huge pressure on the UK and with Uranus, Pluto and Saturn involved we could guess that there would be a shock, scandal or shake up of major proportions (causing authority & government to be brought to bare) and eventually leading to a transformation of some kind (Pluto).

Looking at where the eclipse actually hit, it was just into the 9th house of international communications and the law courts (relating to international presence close to the top of UK government), Pluto was in the 3rd house of communications and the press. Pluto of course can refer to underground, sadistic and wholly unpleasant actions. Finally Uranus sits in the 6th house of the workers and also of national services including the police. In addition to the cardinal cross, transiting Neptune was going through the house of celebrity and entertainment and conjunct to natal Pluto. The ascendant of the eclipse was directly opposite natal Pluto.

This scandal and previously hidden and illegal actions (Neptune)  started through celebrity (5th) phone hacking (Pluto in 3rd) trials (9th) and spread to the general public (6th), involved the press (3rd) where the shock (Uranus) of the public’s (6th) revulsion to the hacking of the phone messages of murder victims (Pluto) and the families of soldiers (6th) killed in action. The proprietors of the newspapers involved (3rd) came from abroad (9th) and had close connections to the prime minister (Midheaven) and those in administration (Saturn). It lead to the closure of the News of the World (Pluto in 3rd), the shock (Uranus) sacking of it’s employees (6th) and will lead to legal cases (9th), probable controls on the press (Pluto in 3rd), shake up the activities of the police (Uranus in 6th) and will change the whole face of UK society through parliamentary pressure (Saturn in 1st conjunct ascendant). It may even eventually lead to a purge at the very top of government (Eclipse conjunct Midheaven). When an eclipse strikes the Midheaven those in charge may be struck out of office, or at the very least their public reputation is heavily tarnished from then on. As the Independent newspaper so aptly put it soon after all this broke, the UK may be facing it’s own Watergate moment.
