There's going to be a full Moon on the 30th December at 8 degrees in the sign of Cancer, a reminder that the Capricorn Cancer influence of the past 2 to 3 years has not quite finished yet. As you will know Cancer is a sign of nurturing, security, family and the past, and this lunation will highlight these themes as we get the end of a most difficult year, and look forward with hope that 2021 will be a little bit better.
This Cancerian Full Moon in making a sextile to Uranus should reveal the changes that we need to make to the the things that we hold dear to our hearts. So for example, we may have to let go of historical matters that we find important, or open ourselves out to taking on new challenges so that we can make our lives more secure in the years ahead. We might have to adapt things at home or with the family, and look to new ways of addressing any problems in the way that we can prosper in the future. Matters linked to your home, or where you live may be prevalent around this time.
At the same time, this Full Moon will be square to Chiron in Aries, and this brings in an element of hurt that we may have to get over or learn from before we can fully move on into the New Year to come. Many of us will be carrying around wounds from the past year linked to family, work, or our homes or security being compromised because of the events of the months preceding this moment.
There is a fixed star connection to this Cancerian Full Moon too, as it will be making a close conjunction with the fixed star Alhena in the constellation of Gemini. Alhena sits in the foot of one of the twins of Gemini, Pollux, and this star is nicknamed the marching one, as it is linked to causes, ideas and ideals that we follow or "march to".

With Uranus having an influence over this Full Moon, there is a sense of independence, renewal and doing your own thing that will emanate from the energy around us as the year ends.
Of course there is much more to the skies above us than just this new this Full Moon influence. Perfecting on this very day, Venus, making a close conjunction to the South Node, will also be making an exact square to the planet Neptune. Venus affects relationships, love and our values, and there is a sense that we may be overly hopeful or idealistic in believing that everything is going to be fine and dandy. This square may indicate that our optimism or the value we place on things may be misguided, especially as Venus is moving in the sign of hopes and taking a risk, Sagittarius. As in the previous few weeks, Neptune (that has been constantly square to the Lunar Nodes) will be adding doubt, illusion and an amount of chaos into situations that should be much more straight forward than they actually are. Might the whole story of the situation around us be hidden for a while longer? Of course, Neptune represents illness and suffering too, and just to illustrate that the hurt from this pandemic is not yet over, Neptune will not move out of this square to the Lunar Nodes for a few months to come.
Finally, Mars will be coming off its square to Pluto, and will be starting to form two squares with first Saturn and then Jupiter in the New Year – these will occur between 9th and 11th January, after Mars moves out of Aries and into Taurus. There will still be the residue of any hidden troubles that revealed themselves over Christmas hanging around, and some change or remedial work might have to be completed before Mars initially runs into the roadblock of Saturn in a week or so. New challenges will then await us all, ones that are different in nature and scope to the ones that we have had to put up with in 2020. Mars in Taurus wants to build and construct something new, but Saturn in Aquarius may put technical or ideological barriers in our way first, before we can make a proper breakthrough, and start to create a new future and foster new hope as well.
So there is quite a complicated picture and set of scenarios to navigate before we can really get going into the New Year. It will be a time to take stock of where we are and to start to plan ahead with new ideas, but before we can implement them we may find that our expectations are either somewhat unrealistic or are held back because some new rules or regulations get in the way of us making initial progress. It does seem to me that we will have to put up with some delays first before fresh air starts to rush in around the middle of next month. Then it should be all systems go at long last...
