Astrology of the Day – Mercury sextile Jupiter - Thursday 25th January 2018

Connect the World - Mercury sextile Jupiter

The Moon is in calm and composed Taurus today and we will be happy to see everything as it is and we have known it to be. This is a sign that loves things to stay the same, it moves at it's own pace, unhurried, slowly, securely and in a measured way. The Moon in Taurus loves a bit of comfort and luxury too and it will work hard to achieve these aims, and we will do our bit to make sure that these needs are met. There is a good work ethic here today, and a sense that it's good to get back to basics, and to what we know.

The Moon early on makes a square to Venus, the ruler of Taurus which the Moon is in, and we will find that our feelings and emotions will be at crossed purposes with our values and how we relate to others. We may feel rather insecure today, and that inherent need for security and stability might play on our minds. Do we relate with or connect with others because we need to keep that security that we are craving, or do we compromise our vales to assure things remain the same? This square could see us going against what we want, or worse it could see us being vulnerable to being taken advantage of. We may unsettle others because we want affection and love a bit too much as well.

A bit later on there is another sextile between the Moon and Neptune, a lovely compassionate and kind aspect that sees our emotions turned towards showing a higher kind of love, through giving our time and considerations to those who need it. We will sense what is the right course of action now through tapping into our feelings and using our intuition. This a caring family link, and you may be wanting to nurture and to do what you can for your loved ones around you through little thoughtful actions.

Mercury late on makes a sextile to Jupiter and we will be generous with our thoughts and our deeds, and we may chat or gossip incessantly. There is a tendency to want to connect with those far away today, and friends who live in other countries may contact you, or you may have a need to contact with them. There may also be desire to get your message out far and wide and global visions may be expressed. It's a time when a message may go around the world, and something said or quoted may touch many peoples. The old problem with this aspect is keeping a hold on the smaller details, and generalisation may be something that we may be accused of.

There is one star planet connection today, and this sees Mars in connection with the star Toliman in the constellation of Centaurus, the Centaur. The Centaur in mythology suffered a fatal wound, and was unable to save himself even though he was a healer. This star takes on the story of wounding, healing and teaching and Mars linked up with it may suggest actions being taken that causes a wound or a fissure that needs healing or education to fix. I can imagine incidents to do with the police and emergency services, the military, sport, engineering or sex scandals to be in the news, and for lessons to be learned and new measures to be called for called for to solve difficult issues linked to these areas of life in relation to events that come to light today...

Astrology of the Day – Mercury conjunct Pluto - Wednesday 24th January 2018

The Hack - Mercury conjunct Pluto
The Hack - Mercury conjunct Pluto

The Moon starts today in the sign of Aries therefore we have drive, ambition, impatience and enthusiasm. We may be a little brusque, and the potential for us to act first and think later will be ever present. Our emotions will be very direct and we will go for exactly what we want, without thinking of the needs of other. Yes we can be just a little bit selfish in our attitudes this morning.

The Moon starts today in conjunction to Uranus, and this makes our moods rather unpredictable and cranky. You'll definitely want to do your own thing, you'll be fascinated with anything new and novel and you'll be in a mood not to comply with the wishes of anyone who wants you to do something. The Moon soon makes an inconjunct to Mars and if anything your impatience will be even stronger if someone or something holds you up, (this is an aspect that may indicate technical hitches) and you may be irritated if you have to adjust your the way you are doing something. You may have to change tack because something isn't working so well and somebody's unpredictable behaviour may also annoy you.

The Moon moves into Taurus in the late morning and this should settle us down emotionally. The Moon in Taurus is calm and peace loving, and doesn't want much fuss. Soon after this happens, Mercury moves into a conjunction with Pluto. This is a conjunction of powerful communication, deep thought, manipulation and suggestion. There is a desire to look for information under the surface, the hidden details or the secret message, and we can we can achieve much by relying on instinct and searching our souls. This is the aspect of the investigative journalist or the careful researcher, and there is the possibility of a media story coming out of the woodwork, maybe connected to anything Plutonian such as spying, investments, big business, unpleasant secrets, sex and intimacy or manipulative behaviour that makes us sit up and really take notice.

The Moon still has a couple of aspects to make before this day is done, and the first involves a trine to Saturn, an aspect of controlled emotion, of hard work and a desire to do this well without cutting any corners. We are loyal at this moment, honest and able to keep perspective on any situation, and this may be necessary as the Moon also forms a square aspect to the Sun, the first square in this particular cycle. This aspect indicates our emotions and actions are at cross purposes, and difficult situations, disagreements and emotional bust-ups could occur late on if we are not careful. Any upsets will unsettle us now, and in response we may put up the barriers around us to stop any more hurt coming our way. Try and keep your cool, even if you are being provoked and ride out the storm until the individual upsetting you calms down as well.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Aries - Tuesday 23rd January 2018

Cliff diving
Seeking a thrill

The Moon is in the active and forward thinking sign of Aries and our need today is to advance our position and achieve our aims with a minimum of fuss as quickly as is possible. We will be very direct in dealing with other people, and anyone who makes excuses or can't deliver what they say they will may encounter our displeasure. The Moon in Aries wants success and it will give us desire to do our best in any situation that we find ourselves in. There is a sense of adventure with the Moon in Aries, and this will be borne out later in the day.

For the first half of today the Moon makes no aspect whatsoever, and it's only until we reach the afternoon that it connects with one of the other planets. The first of these is a square to Mercury. Now we have a bit of a quandary as what we think and what we feel are at odds with each other, and this may lead to us prevaricating or holding on to to see which of the two, our head or heart or heart wins out. What we will want to do is dig down in to the details of any situation to find out the real reasons of what is going on, and the square to Pluto that follows the square to Mercury will allow us to do just that. We can make a powerful impression on others at this moment through the force of argument that we put forward as well as our in-depth knowledge. The Mercury Pluto conjunction that is forming in Capricorn is highly organised and very persuasive and either we will be able to take advantage of this energy, or we will be on the receiving end of it.

There is one more aspect coming late in the day and this sees the Aries Moon making a rather interesting inconjunct aspect to Jupiter. As you will have gathered, the Moon is in rather a hurry in Aries, and the adjusting inconjunct to Jupiter in Scorpio may see us want to try and take the most insane risks, just for the sheer emotional thrill of it all. There is a bit of a death risk culture going on here, and not much rational thought as we act first and worry about the consequences later. If things go wrong, then we'll deal with having to adjust to the situation as and when is needed, but the initial thrill is what is most important here as these two influences collide. We also may take a few liberties with our own security and in regards to our families too, and this could see us having to make amends if our actions are seen unfavourably by those close to us.

The Leo Lunar Eclipse on 31st January 2018 – Left to your own devices…

Old lady

Whenever I look at the eclipses, a story or a pattern starts to emerge and often it develops throughout the chart, and with the coming Lunar Eclipse on 31st January 2018, there is no exception to this rule. This eclipse occurs at 11.37 degrees Leo, and if you think about it, the Lunar Eclipse is really a Full Moon, however this time the Earth gets in the way of the Sun and Moon in opposition casting a shadow over the Moon, therefore blacking it out. This is also what we would call a blue Moon as it is the second Full Moon in the month, plus it is a Super Moon too, looking considerably bigger than normal to us, as the Moon's orbit is closer to the earth that it often is.
