Astrology of the Day – Moon in Taurus – Wednesday 20th February 2018

Themis 5782
Mars conjunct Ras Algethi - Acting to see justice prevail

Contrary to the previous few days, this one with the Moon in Taurus promises to be a really busy and fluctuating one. The Moon in Taurus makes us much calmer than the past couple of days, but we still won't appreciate too much change or disruption to the plans that we want to carry out. The Taurean Moon wants stability to build upon, and we may get irritated if we are challenged with situations that try and force us into doing something that we are not keen on.

To begin with today the Moon makes a sextile to Mercury and a trine to Saturn. These aspect should get us organised and prepared for all eventualities, and if we need to show some authority we can do so with a calm demeanour, and we can be counted on to say the right things at the right time. We may be praised for our business like and efficient approach to things. These two planets will perfect a sextile between themselves later on this afternoon, and this aspect will be perfect for any demanding work that needs keen concentration and a good eye for detail.

Following on from this a few hours later, the Moon makes simultaneous sextiles to Venus and Neptune as these two planets combine in a conjunction. Neptune and Venus together tend to blur the lines in relationship situations, and also create idealised love that can make us fall for the most unusual people, and in particular the waifs and strays in life who fall off the rails. Existing relationships could be plunged into confusion, or you may feel that you are being duped or lied to by a partner, either romantic or professional, and this may lead to emotionally charged situations. You may not see eye to eye with others, and the stubborn Taurean Moon may exacerbate differences between those who are flexible in attitude and those who aren't. On the plus side there is a lot of compassionate energy here and we can show love and caring to those who are in trouble or require assistance, plus we can utilise our emotional feelings to create beautiful pictures, visions and ideas.
Into the late afternoon Mercury makes that aforementioned sextile to Saturn and then just before the day ends, the Moon will make a tricky little inconjunct aspect to Mars. We may be upset or angered by having to do things a different way, or by someone who changes something that we wanted to keep as it was.

Mars also make the most influential star connection during this day as it connects with Ras Algethi, the premier star in the constellation of Hercules, Ras Algethi. This is a star of bowing to a higher power, and we may be confronted by a situation where we have to compromise our position to someone of higher stature, or if we don't wish to do that we may fight against those who are trying to put pressure or impose restrictions on us. We may want to defend a moral code that we live under and we will also wants to see justice prevail, not only in our life but in others too, indeed this is a day of justice and seeing that the right decisions are found and imposed.

Astrology of the Day – Moon into Taurus – Tuesday 20th February 2018

geyser
Moon square Pluto - Pressure building before an explosion

The Moon finishes its transit through the sign of Aries today, but before it does it has a few aspects with the other planets to contend with first. As you will realise Aries is a put your foot first influence, and sometimes Aries can act first and think later. The same can be said of our emotions now, and we may emotionally react to situations whereas a cooler and more reserved reaction might be more appropriate. We might say things out of sheer enthusiasm that we may regret later.
The Moon initially makes a very powerful square to Pluto. Intense emotional outbursts are entirely possible early on today, and inside we may be building up pressure like a geyser preparing to send a jet of water into the air. We could be intensely attracted to people, or we may bring out the best or worst in others, as our actions and emotional reactions inspire or annoy. Try to be aware of what you say or how you treat all around you.

The Moon then moves on to form an inconjunct aspect to Jupiter. Now in the middle of the day complacency can be our enemy, as we take a situation too lightly or not as seriously as we should do. We may learn a lesson from a situation where we were lacking in knowledge, or we could believe something but actually realise that the truth lies elsewhere. Following on from this, the Moon forms a conjunction to Uranus. This aspect is always one where we react a little crazily, or we may try to put other people off from what they are trying to do. We may be disruptive, intentionally or unintentionally, and we could infuriate others if we are too stubborn or stuck in our ways. Alternatively, we may be attracted to new ways of doing things or by creating exciting situations by taking a risk.

As the evening comes around the Moon moves into Taurus and things settle down a lot, especially as it soon makes an easy looking sextile to the Sun in Pisces. We will feel more at ease and emotionally settled at last, and others will start to relax in our company too. The rather stressed out and incendiary emotions that may have punctured the past two days will drift away, and we will crave that which we know, and those who we love and feel comfortable in sharing our lives with.

There are two planet and star aspects that colour this day too, as Mercury makes contact with the stars Sadalmelek in the constellation of Aquarius as well as Fomalhaut in Piscis Australis, the Southern Fish. Sadalmelek as you will remember if you read my daily updates is a star of making your own luck, and the decisions we make, the agreements we strike or the things we say may prove to be ones where we can gain in the future. We may be in the right place at the right time, and magical things may happen as a result. The star Fomalhaut is a poetic, charismatic and intensely creative star and we can have the most inspiring ideas, and our words and communications may be praised by others. Unfortunately on the flip side, there is a danger that we may become too egotistical and arrogant too, promise far more than we can deliver, or worse still we may be tempted to lie to cover up a situation, and as a result these actions may tarnish our reputation in the future. In the world around us matters that are thought to be true, but prove not to be may make the news.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Aries – Monday 19th February 2018

skier
Downhill skier - Moon in Aries

The Moon is in the sign of Aries all day today, and we will be alive, assertive, quick tempered, impatient and willing to take on any challenge at a moment's notice. We will be much more passionate now and full of enthusiasm to get things moving. This is a quick fire start to a new week and we will want to get working hard, fast and smart. There is an independent streak that will overtake our emotions and makes us want to do things on our own.

This is another very quiet day astrologically, and the Moon only makes a couple of major aspects to the other planets. The first is an early square to Saturn moving in Capricorn. This is a difficult connection to handle depressing our emotions and putting the brakes on the Aries Moon that does want to run before it can walk. We may feel slightly reserved in the first half of the day and this aspect makes us albeit briefly more cautious than later on. We may also become a little more distant and not so willing to engage with other people. Left alone will will feel happier to get on with the tasks that we have to do.

That reticence will drift away as we reach around noon in the UK and from then on a sense of adventure and haste will drive us on as the Moon makes an exciting fire trine to Mars moving in Sagittarius. This revs up our emotions to fever pitch, makes us want to take on the world and win. It encourages us to take emotional risks, enlivens our sex drives and gives us the optimism to make brave decisions. Like a downhill skier on a mission to put up the quickest time, our emotions will be on edge in a good way this evening. We will want to hit top speed and go as fast as we can, we will be full of enthusiasm and willing to take on any situation with a smile on our faces and confidence in our abilities to succeed. Our goal will to reach the finishing line before anywhere else, and even the slow start to the day will not hold us back.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Aries – Sunday 18th February 2018

leaves
Mercury and Sun in Pisces - Going with the flow

The Moon begins the day still in the mutable sign of Pisces and there is a fluidity of or emotions that you will be aware of, although maybe some confusion and uncertainty too as the Moon remains void of course through the first half of the day. Actually, this is promising to be a most unusual day as the Moon will only make one major aspect during Sunday, and the only other notable Astrological effects will be planets changing signs.

The first of these comes as the Sun is rising with Mercury shifting into the sign of Pisces. There will be a dramatic change of emphasis as Mercury exits Aquarius, as we leave behind cool logical thought processes for a much more incoherent, and yet intuitive way of thinking and making decisions. The Moon then makes an emotionally healing link up with Chiron, although it will also make you feel the inadequacies in your life too. By realising and coming to terms with them, then you can emotionally heal the hurts of the past.

We will feeling be MUCH more sensitive with Mercury in Pisces, even more so when in the afternoon the Sun also moves into the sign of the fishes. This will for a few days create a Pisces log jam with Sun, Mercury, Venus, Neptune and Chiron in this sacrificial sign. This is the sign of universal love, of understanding without knowing, of sensing what is right and what is wrong and of pure creativity and inspiration. Over the next few days there will be a danger of believing our own hype and of blissfully floating along instead of properly planning out our actions. Much can go wrong if we take too much for granted.

Luckily just before the Sun moves into Pisces, the Moon passes over the celestial boundary and begins a new cycle of evolution by moving into Aries. This will sharpen up our emotions and bring us more direction and purpose. We will react with straight answers and honesty, and the go around the houses nature of some the responses we receive because of the Piscean energy dominating the rest of the chart may frustrate us a lot. This battle between the certain of Aries and the uncertain of Pisces is going to keep us completely off balance for a while leading us to make mistakes, and because of this our moods may shift and swirl like a leaf caught up in a gust of wind. My advice is to hold steady if you can, and hold fire for the calmer emotions of the Moon in Taurus in a couple of day's time.
