Sergio Garcia finally wins The Masters

Sergio trophy 2

Massive huge congratulations to Sergio Garcia, the Spanish golfer who until last night was forever the bridesmaid and never the bride. Seventy four major championships he had played and never once a winner until with a throat curdling scream of utter delight he won the one they all want to win, the Masters at Augusta.

Watching it was pure torture, as he lead, then he trailed, nearly threw the title away and finally dragged himself over the line in a playoff. It was sporting theatre at it's finest, and the right man won, on what would have been the 60th birthday of his idol, mentor and fellow Spanish legend Seve Ballesteros.

Sergio was born on 9th Jan 80 in Castellon de la Plana, Spain just north of Valencia (I have no birth time). He is a Sun Capricorn, Moon in Libra and his North Node sits on Regulus, the star of kings. The North Node can only get fulfilled once you have learnt your lessons in life and one could say that Sergio has served his apprenticeship several times over.

His Sun is in trine with sporting Mars in technical Virgo conjunct to Jupiter, the planet of international reach and he is one of the most popular player in golf because of his never say die attitude and a creative genius that he has always had. Uranus, the unpredictable sits square to that Nodal axis, and Neptune the planet of imagination at the midpoint of Venus and Pluto in a passionate trine, this is pure imagination and creative vision that he has always used in his sporting life. Interestingly his Midheaven, the point of career is ruled by Capricorn, and Saturn on his chart is retrograde. This says to me that his road to the very top would be one that would take a long time, and would be a tortuous one too. So this has proved beyond doubt.

Sergio transits

Last night, transiting Pluto the transformer was sitting on the same degree point as his Sun, 18 degrees Capricorn, squared by a lucky Jupiter/Uranus opposition. Things indeed did go his way and he made the right shots at the right moment. He is also going through a Nodal return, with the transiting North Node now conjunct to his natal North Node on Regulus, a crossroads moment, a time of destiny too.

You know, this win could really open the floodgates for him. The monkey of a major win is off his back and finally he can relax into future tournaments knowing that he is a champion. He is due to get married in the Summer too, another transformation in his life. It couldn't happen to a nicer, hard working and more deserving guy...
