Astrology of the Day – Mars square Neptune – Saturday 17th February 2018

chaos
Chaos, then a return to order

The Moon remains in the elusive sign of Pisces today and our emotions may be a bit all over the place. The Pisces Moon is very imaginative, sacrificial and escapist and wants to believe that everything is going to be perfect, but often you know it isn't. The idealism that the Pisces Moon is often let down by the movements of the planets elsewhere, as if they can't live up to that which the Pisces Moon expects. There is a vulnerability of the emotions here, and anyone with the Moon in Pisces can be so sensitive and weak, that they can be taken advantage of by hardier souls. This as you will read is a day of two halves, the first part being much more difficult than the latter half of the day.

The first three aspect that affect us today are all linked. Initially the Moon will make a tense square aspect to Mars, as it makes an almost simultaneous conjunction with Neptune. Just after this, Mars perfects the square to Neptune. Mars square to Neptune is can be very difficult to control. Mars is action, the will to win, aggression and potential violence, and Neptune at worst is uncontrolled, diffuse, confusing, deceptive and chaotic. Putting these forces into a difficult angle with the Moon can bring out a bad reaction, and we should be careful how we direct our emotions and our actions, as there could be severe irritation and anger, situations may be misconstrued, seen as disruptive, escapist or even illegal. This is a potent square where all sorts of things could go wrong, and how you react to things not going to plan, may affect how others react to you. In the potential chaos of this triple aspect we may despair, feel at a loss what to do or in which direction to go. To alleviate this, if you can then plan ahead for things going wrong, and have back up ideas and strategies just in case “the shit hits the fan!!” I apologise for the language, but it's the most effective way of putting the potential effects of this nasty square.

After a difficult morning, the Sun makes a conjunction with Mercury in Aquarius, and we will want to have our own way, and do our own thing. We may be stubborn in the way that we approach things (Aquarius is a fixed sign), and the lack of flexibility in our thoughts may hold us back or prevent us from seeing the correct path we need. On the plus side, we will be able to innovate and use our friends and contacts to help us out. The power of group communication may pull us through a difficult situation.

Later on in the day, the Moon forms a opportunistic sextile to Pluto and latterly a beneficial trine to Jupiter. Any changes we make this evening or power that we use can help us to move forwards and expand our lives. Maybe you will encounter people who have a distinct hold over you, or maybe suggestions made this evening can open up new paths for you to follow? One thing is for sure, and that is that this evening we will be much more self assured than earlier in the day, and that will allow us to feel brighter and more optimistic.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Pisces – Friday 16th February 2018

put your feet up
Moon conjunct Venus - Feel the peace and contentment

The Moon begins the day void of course in Aquarius after the Solar Eclipse of the previous day is dissolving, but not for long as it soon makes a shift into the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces. The Moon here makes us much more compassionate, sensitive to the moods around us, intuitive, imaginative and sacrificial. We can tap into the zeitgeist now to get the answers we need, and information will come to us much more through feeling and what we sense than the day before.

Astrologically this is a most quiet blue sky day, with the Moon making just two connections to the other planets. The first of these sees the Moon making a sextile to Saturn around lunchtime in the UK. The second comes soon afterwards with the Moon making a conjunction to Venus. The sextile to Saturn calms our emotions which is a good thing, as the Moon in Pisces can be so sensitive that things that emotionally hit us can bring us to tears. We can ally the organisational and administrative ability of Saturn to the intuition of the Pisces moon to make the right calls when needed. We can structure our creative output, put the meat on the bones of the ideas and thoughts we have, bring our visions into reality. If we do find ourselves in stressful situations, Saturn will allow us to think clearly without allowing our emotions to get out of hand.

The conjunction with Venus is a very compassionate and thoughtful influence and it promises a peaceful few hours in our lives, which I would think would be a blessing to us all. There is love and caring in abundance and we will willingly give up our time for other people to make sure that they are ok. We will feel as if we need to be with others, especially with family or close friends, and you will want them to feel warm, looked after and safe. If you are out shopping, you may intuitively know what is a bargain and what isn't. Trust your feelings and you may get a good deal for your money. It's a day to dream, to contemplate and to feel the love, and all in all you should be able to relax and feel wanted. Put your feet up and feel the peace and serenity, as the planets are rarely in such a benevolent and loving mood.

Astrology of the Day – Solar Eclipse in Aquarius – Thursday 15th February 2018

Swan
The Swan - Representing the constellation of Cygnus

The Moon is today in the sign of Aquarius, the sign of technical advancement, of doing your own thing and not caring about tradition. This is a day that we look to the future and our emotions reactions will not worry about what has gone before. What does the future hold? Well it represents what you want to make out of it, and this day will go a long way to deciding which path you take.

The Moon initially forms a square to Jupiter setting the tone for us to expand our lives and to embrace the taking of a chance. We will be not so detail orientated rather than goal orientated and we will want to make an big impression. This is a confident and rather forgiving aspect, generous with praise, and supportive with mistakes made.

Mercury makes the next aspect of the day with a sextile to Uranus, with the Moon closing in on a conjunction with Mercury and thus also a second sextile to the rebel planet. This Moon Mercury and Uranus triple connection has so many ideas and brings lots of opportunities to connect with clever individuals. It will allow you to get your views seen by the public and to innovate, invent and to find out new things. This is a dream set of connections for those who are trying something new, going in a different direction and making important decisions. Through it we will be logical, and our emotions will be allow us to foster a clear thought process. We will then experience the Solar eclipse in Aquarius, effectively a new Moon where the Moon blocks out the light from the Sun. All new Moons promise new beginnings, and in some regard this eclipse will see a new start in your life, either through choice or by unexpected circumstance.

The final aspect of the day sees Saturn making a sextile to Venus with the planet of love connecting with the main star in the constellation of Cygnus the Swan, Deneb Adige. This star has mystical properties and it also brings subtlety with strength, and Venus combined with this star bring out the true performer in people when it comes to forming relationships. There will be a sense of theatre about the way we treat our partners, and also how we show off the resources we have. Saturn will slightly tone down the tendency for us to boast, but in practical terms we will still flaunt what we have and own, and act with a sense of entitlement, class and decorum towards those we are interested in, and those we love. Nothing will be too much trouble, and if you are on the receiving end, enjoy it while it lasts...

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Aquarius – Wednesday 14th February 2018

aquarius
Aquarius - The water barer

The Moon continues onwards in the sign of Aquarius on this Valentines Day. Now for supposedly the most romantic day of the year, this position for the Moon is one of rather cold and icy emotions. The Moon in Aquarius looks for something a little bit different and actually traditions are not things that it appreciates, indeed showing love on a wider community scale or to the group is much more Aquarius' thing rather than to any individual in particular.

At the beginning of the day Mercury is in a square aspect to Jupiter, an aspect that started to form late yesterday. This aspect gives us a broad outlook for the day and although we may have a lot of ideas for the future we may struggle to settle on which one we wish to pursue. There is also a possibility that we may try to take on too much today, and end up letting ourselves or someone else down, as we over estimate what we can actually achieve.

The Sun early on also makes an aspect, a sextile to Uranus. Like yesterday and complementing the Moon in Aquarius, there is an unorthodox feel that we will pick up on, as if it's good to be different and to express your talents, however they come to you. Why not experiment and be yourself? There is a feel for technology, science and the social network today, the spreading and sharing of information far and wide.

The Moon makes its only connection with an active and pretty direct sextile to Mars. There will be some impatience as this day progresses and a desire to get things done. We may be competitive and there will be an emotional pull to get one over on or be better than those who we see as a rival. Those who complain or try to make excuses will be given little time, and our attitude will be either to put up or shut up.

Mercury makes a couple of star connections today, with conjunctions to the star Deneb Algedi in the constellation of Capricorn and Sadalsuud in the constellation of Aquarius. Deneb as it is popularly known, sits in the tail of the Goat and is connected to rules and the making and upholding of the law, and it is likely that in the world around us law makers, legal decisions, or challenges to international law may be in the news. I can also imagine that the freedom of the press may be an issue today. Situations or incidents linked to vehicles and transport may also catch the imagination. The other connection to Sadalsuud is quite a fortunate one, and it suggests that our ideas and decisions may catch the right tone today. There could be a flair for business and for finding the right answers at the right time, so follow what seems honest, right and logical to you, and then you won't be far off making this Valentines Day a successful one.
