I was asked by a loyal follower of mine Maia about the situation in Romania, and true to my word, I'm responding to her request, and actually it's quite appropriate. Modern Romania was born on the moment Nicolae Ceausescu fled by helicopter on 22nd December 1989 from the headquarters of the Communist Party in what used to be called Palace Square (now known as Revolution Square) in Central Bucharest. There had been demonstrations against the Ceausescu regime in Timisoara and 8 minutes into his speech in Bucharest on a freezing cold morning in front of an agitated crowd, the people scarred by years of impoverishment rounded on him defying years of state terror and control. Their patience had finally snapped after years of suffering and communist lead failure, and the protests turned into a full scale revolution. Fearing for his safety, Ceausescu fled to a waiting helicopter and escaped seconds before he was caught. He was located days later, immediately tried, convicted and sentenced to death; a sentence carried out in brutal fashion in front a firing squad. There was a news report from a Yugoslav news agency TanJug at mentioning the fleeing of Ceausescu at 11.48am in Bucharest, and this is the time I take for the moment that Romania turned a corner.
The horoscope for this moment, saw Pluto, the planet of power and control in Scorpio in the 8th house of death and inevitable change square to the Nodal axis. At that minute, the brutal controlling dictator (Pluto) was at odds with the direction that the nation was taking (North Node/South Node axis), and the people acted to remove him. In that year there was a closing Uranus Neptune conjunction in Capricorn, the sign of administration. Uranus is the planet of revolution, Neptune is the planet of chaos, of dreams and its an influence of no limits. Saturn had passed over both of these planets in 1989, bringing awareness of the limitations of the rulership of Ceausescu that time. Saturn conjunct Uranus brings about a renewal, taking an old situation and breathing new life into it often through a revolutionary spirit coming alive, and Saturn conjunct Neptune disintegrates administrative structures, it highlights matters of corruption and deception and leaches out the truth. There can also be a unity of purpose with Saturn passing over these planets as the collective, and communities, both a by product of Uranus and Neptune are empowered with leadership ambitions by Saturn. The seeds of this revolution had been building in that year since Saturn had entered Capricorn with Uranus in tow from mid 1988, and as Jupiter the planet of connections to the wider world, optimism and freedom opposed all these planets in the autumn and winter of 1989, the desire for change was crystallised.
The current Romanian chart has a big Capricorn stellium in the 10th house with Sun, Uranus, Neptune and Saturn all in this part of the chart, and this tells me that there would be a lot of changes of government, weakness, chaos, corruption, instability and it would take a long time for Romania as a country to settle down. Saturn in the natal 10th house slows the process of ambitious progress, and the coming year or two will be critical for the country as Saturn returns to the place where the revolution took place. Yes, Saturn will be traversing through that 10th house stellium in the next year, and a lot of chickens will come home to roost. Pluto has been grinding through this part of the Romanian chart too up until the last year when it moved into the Romanian 11th house. I think that Saturn will finish the work off that Pluto started in transforming the way Romania is governed. It will certainly run the rule over the leaders, and there could be more changes in government in the next 2 years. The Saturn return is coming, a time of maturing, and I think in a couple of years when Saturn makes it's first return since the revolution, out of the wreckage that Pluto started and Saturn will wreak in the next year or so will come stronger more responsible rulership. I hope so anyway.
In the past week, the Romanians lost King Michael who passed away on 5th December 2017; he was living in Switzerland. Saturn has been closing in on the Romanian Sun sitting at 0 degrees Capricorn in the 10th house of the top of society. Interestingly the Sun rules the 6th house of the house of service, so therefore this Sun, representing King Michael, was more aligned to the common people that the traditional royal ruler that we have my country of the United Kingdom, being modest and a man not looking for any special treatment. Saturn brings loss, and this conjunction indicated the loss of an important man to the Romanians. This I think this moment will focus Romanian minds as to what kind of society Romania needs and desires in the coming years, and I think they will adjust society to get the stable leadership that the country needs, but it will be a rocky road to get there.
The story of Romania and the return of Saturn into Capricorn is a lesson for us to focus on now, as many of the nations that found liberty in the 1989 revolutions suddenly have collective Saturn returns. For Central and Eastern Europe, this is a time of reckoning, and for realising that they are no longer young fledgling nations, but more mature countries that need to take on a burden of responsibility. No longer will they be able to rely on pay outs from the stronger European nations, indeed they will have to stand up in their own right and start to take responsibility for their actions. With the UK, a financial net contributor to the EU leaving in 2019, someone will have to take up the slack, and more onus will fall on the newer member nations of Eastern Europe. Germany as the strongest force in the EU will insist on that, and remember, the new united Germany also faces a Saturn return coming up soon, as she was also part of the Eastern revolutions when the Berlin Wall fell. Saturn takes no prisoners, and old Father Time is coming home, so his restrictive harsh but fair rule is going to be very strong between now and the end of 2020. For Romania, it's a coming of age that I believe it will see a beautiful and amazing country and people finally starting to fulfil their promise.
