The Solar Eclipse of 23rd October 2014 - The light at the end of the tunnel.

 

Tomorrow, the Sun and Moon join up together in the same spot in the sky for a brief few hours and as they do the warmth and light from our star will be extinguished and the world directly below will be plunged in to an eerie darkness. How appropriate the that this new moon Eclipse occurs in the very first degree of the sign of darkness and the underworld, Scorpio. This is the last Solar eclipse we will see this year and the last of three consecutive ones we have seen in this sign. A parting gift, a final transformation, this eclipse is the last in this series and I think one where we will finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel we have been travelling down.

Ok lets do the technical stuff first. All Solar eclipses are part of the Saros System a recurring rotation of eclipse families that repeat every 19 years. This particular one is part of the 17 North family, a set  that Bernadette Brady mentions in her book Predictive Astrology as being linked to hectic passionate energy especially in regard to financial issues or relationships. In looking at the chart above for this eclipse, I tend to agree, however there is a softer edge to this eclipse too that I think we will all welcome.

I said in my introduction that this eclipse will see a parting gift before we exit the underworld realm of Scorpio and in this sense the eclipse does herald a changing of the guard in the energy that surrounds us in the coming months. This is the last eclipse in this sign for a while and by the time December comes along, Saturn will also be exiting the sign of the Scorpio for Sagittarius, therefore you can see here and you will feel a real shift of emphasis coming. This is a North Node eclipse and therefore we will all be seeing an inrush of new experiences and challenges to face, a final set of changes and the end of a chapter before we begin afresh in the early months of 2015.

This eclipse into the first degree of Scorpio is conjunct to Venus very closely, therefore the promise of links to financial issues and relationships will be very prevalent in the months ahead. The polarity here being activated is still the Scorpio and Taurus one, of what we share compared to what we individually own, what we value and what others value, keeping things as they are as compared to complete and irrevocable change. The last hit in this sign tells me though that we are ending this particular cycle of change. Venus is subject to the full force of this eclipse therefore any financial and relationship issues that have been troubling you for months on end will finally come to a conclusion or be transformed in such a dramatic way that you can move on. There is finality here, the death of one situation and the birth of a new one. What was shared may be separated, our values will alter and something we own we may lose, the old order will be split asunder but don’t be afraid. In the new light that is dawning ahead of you and through the new challenges you will have to take on, you will dispel all of those fears that you have had for the last year and a half. Trust me, things will get better and the pressure will ease. The sign of Scorpio represents the deepest of deep waters and anything below the surface, a forbidding place where there is no escape from the pressure from above you until finally relent, make a change forced upon you and come up for air.

The eclipse is trine to Neptune in Pisces, a lovely compassionate and soothing influence that will smooth away all the pain of the adjustment that we are going to experience. Yes Neptune indicates suffering and in some cases sacrifice and escaping the troubles of the past, but a new bright glorious future may await us too. I feel that even if the events that face us look difficult now, they aren’t going to hurt half as much once we see the rewards and the infinite possibilities that open out in front of us. Intuition and instinct is as much a part of this eclipse as anything, and you will sense what needs to be done to give you hope and freedom.

There is a triple quindecile to Uranus in Aries active as this eclipse hits, so the potential for sudden reversals in fortune, shocks to the system and for a revolutionary spirit to do something different is very much alive. I say this. Many of us will see a rapid break with the old patterns of the past in the next 6 months. A new situation will arise very rapidly from the ashes of the old and you will either initiate it, or be on the receiving end. The Sun Moon and Venus make trines to Mars in Sagittarius, a free and easy connections bringing active opportunities for us all to boost our incomes and find love and romance. There is adventure, excitement, the willingness to take a chance, opportunities knock for us, so don’t let inhibition and fear stop you from being active and making the move that you feel in your heart that you should take. There is a a very passionate connection from Mars the planet of physical love to these three planets in Scorpio, it’s sexy, sassy, intimate, a little bit dark and dangerous. Be brave and take a chance, you won’t regret it at all!!

This Uranus is still square to Pluto and as the eclipse hits opposed to Mercury. New ways of communicating will be highlighted and maybe a radical change in your habits, the way you think or the journeys you take, the people you meet, see and converse with. Your everyday routine is going to be shaken up I think in some manner. Expect a lot more technological advances in the months to come, the revolution in the way we live our lives will gather apace. Mercury square to Pluto digs beneath the surface and the secret plans we have now will be the catalyst for the development of our lives. We can research and delve deep into the details, analyse others and ourselves to work out how best to proceed. If you need to self analyse yourself to work out why you acted as you did and why situations and events occurred in the past year and a half, I think Mercury retrograde in Libra square to Pluto is absolutely perfect for balancing out why and where you went right and where you went wrong and how you can correct the mistakes that you made. Mercury in making a sextile to Jupiter in Leo is telling us to think big, plan for expansion, make international connections, have trust in out faith, it’s time to learn new skills and gain some wisdom too. You know it’s all good and positive here and we can be optimistic for the future.

Finally Jupiter is making a square to Saturn, a square that will not be completed until later next year as Saturn moves on direct into Sagittarius but Jupiter stops and then goes into retrograde mode in December 2014. There is just a hint of holding back and limitation here, and maybe a little taster of what will come later on next year. Take this as a reminder and make sure that whatever you are planning to do, keep something back in reserve or the bubble will truly burst in 2015 if you don’t. Make sure you have a plan B to go along with plan A. Cover yourself, make provisions for a rainy day, don’t gamble everything right now on the the spin or the wheel, otherwise you may regret it in times to come.

So as for predictions for this eclipse? Well I made several in my Newsletter which I publish every couple of weeks and if you want to find what I said then you are going to have to subscribe. Sorry to tease you but sure you understand my motivations, there is one huge and significant prediction if you are wondering. Some other people who I didn’t mention in it who may be affected are Leonard di Caprio who has his 1st house Mercury/Uranus conjunction hit by this eclipse, expect some action maybe in his love life. Prince Albert of Monaco has an eclipse on his natal Jupiter in the 5th house of children and of course his life is going to be changed forever at the end of the year when his wife Charlene Wittstock gives birth to twins. Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter) sits naturally on his chart on the cusp of the 7th house of his wife. Mark Zuckerberg has his natal Pluto hit directly and his natal Mercury opposed and I wonder if the Facebook mogul might just think that he has taken his creation as far as he could, and maybe he will think about a new venture?

This eclipse is going to offer you a chance to restart a part of your life, maybe something that has been on hold for a while. You may have to go through a crisis first to get to where you want to go, you may lose something of value or someone who is dear to you as they depart for pastures new, you may have to make a bold decision, you may get a lucky break that will spur you on? Money and/or relationships will most likely be involved and the suddenness of events may surprise or even shock you. One thing is very likely. Where you are in 6 months time may well be very different to where you are now. You will see the light, twinkling and glistening in front of you, beckoning you to move towards it. Come out of the dark tunnel, stride forward with confidence towards it. The glow and warmth of the sun as well as the dawn of a brand new dawn in your life awaits you.
