I hope you will like this one. Today the cast of the new edition of Star Wars, episode 7 to be directed by J.J. Abrams was announced today, and for all of you who remember the original film, you may be delighted to find out that many of the original cast members will reappear, including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.
Now Star Wars was released on 25 May 1977 in the US and quite amazingly Neptune, the planet of the silver screen and of films was conjunct to the star Ras Algethi on that very day, a star in the constellation of Hercules, the Phantom. Of course one of the later editions, Episode 1 was called "The Phantom Menace" but there is much more to the story than just this interesting coincidence.
Ras Algethi is a star tied into giving honour to the Gods, indeed the figure of Hercules is depicted kneeling in honour in the skies. The star is also connected to the balance or order of the natural world and to submitting to something that was far, far bigger and more powerful than yourself. This is a star of balance, of good verses evil, of light verses dark and of course the plot of Star Wars was exactly based around these principles of "The Force" and how to use it's power in a positive or negative manner. I wonder if George Lucas was ever aware of the amazing timing coinciding with the film's premiere? I bet he wasn't....
