Delhi rape case brings protests and lockdown to the city

On 16th December in Delhi, India, a unknown 23 year old woman was brutally gang raped on a bus by a group of men. Such was the ferocity of the attack that she was eventually flown to Singapore for medical care, where yesterday she passed away. Since the brutal incident happened, there have been widespread protests in the support of increasing women’s rights in India, and the authorities have been put on alert and much of the city have been under lockdown since she died fearing riots and further protests.

Is the United States going to fall over the fiscal cliff?

President Obama may have flown back from his Christmas holiday in Hawaii to try and find a solution the the paralysis that is affecting negotiations to avoid a fiscal disaster on January 1st. At that point, swinging spending cuts will be imposed in America and taxes on ordinary people will rise,  however the gridlock within Capitol Hill seems to be remaining and no matter what anyone says or does, an agreement to prevent the US lurching into a new financial crisis seems none the nearer, or is it? I look at the astrology to work out what may happen in the next critical couple of days.

Venus Conjunct Antares - Deep passions, divided opinions

This aspect is valid now and also on Christmas Eve

Venus is now making contact with Antares the watcher of the West and the heart of the Scorpion in Scorpio, one of the most significant stars in the sky. Venus rules relationships and money whereas Antares is linked to high passions, mental alertness, risk taking, fierce determination and violence. There is a military link to Antares and interestingly Manilius, an ancient astrologer in the 1st Century AD wrote that "The Scorpion presides over arms".

How utterly appropriate then that US opinion and the people are now deeply divided over two aspects of life, guns and taxes. Robson said of the Venus Antares connection that it was " Insincere, dishonest, energetic and able but selfish". I think that rather sums up the people at the middle of the two main arguments carrying on in the United States right now, don't you??

In your own lives, this Christmas could well see a lot of fun and passion as these two influences meet up on tehe 24th December. There is not so much money flying around now, and most people are a bit short of cash, so I can see everyone going out and making a real party and not worrying about how much everything costs, for one night at least.

Tragic shooting in Connecticut claims the lives of 26, including 20 children.

This is the most shocking story I think I have ever blogged about. As Uranus goes direct I mentioned on my Facebook page (also called Solaris Astrology if you wish to find it) that it would bring down an almighty thunderbolt before a storm began. In astrological terms, it was an easy call to make and I worried about the consequences of what might occur. Now we all know. There has been another shooting in the US following the Oregon shopping mall incident just a few days ago, and this time it is as shocking as you could imagine. The death toll at the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut lies at 26, including 20 young children aged between 5 and 10 years of age who were tragically gunned down. Heart breaking doesn’t even get close to explaining how awful this incident is.
