Venus square Mars – The dance of the two lovers

Oooh la la!! We are coming up to one of the most sizzling aspects of the year so far as Venus in alluring Scorpio sidles up to Mars in bold and brash Leo.  For over a week these two red hot blooded and passionate planets will play a tense courtship game in the sky. The dance of the two lovers Venus and Mars begins soon and they make an exact square aspect on 29th September, before slowly parting and going on their separate ways.

As I explained in earlier posts, Mars in Leo is brash and outgoing and is not afraid of saying what he wants and then going after it in a less than subtle manner. Venus in Scorpio is alluring and mysterious, and not afraid of showing a bit of cleavage to tease and tempt. Oh yes, this a maiden who is going to play hard to get but knows ultimately knows what she wants to have. She is going to twist Mars around her little finger and he is likely to comply, although he may get rather frustrated as she raises the heat but makes him wait, and wait a little longer. Think of the guy at the gentleman’s club tipping the dark haired pole dancing beauty with dollar bills or the sexual tension of the tango as the girl in the scarlet dress and her partner traverse the dance floor in a dramatic and close embrace. 

Now this aspect that is approaching is not an easy going trine or sextile, no this is a square between Mars and Venus and because we have it across fixed signs then the energy is going to crackle and burn. There is little subtly on display with a fixed square and when these two do eventually get together sparks are going to fly. Mars in Leo can get on it’s “high horse” and Venus in Scorpio isn’t afraid of playing dirty if she has to so there is a chance that the passion on display could easily turn to rivalry, jealousy and anger instead. If your life has been feeling a bit stale and uninteresting then this could just be the spark to get the fires burning again within you.

The hit zone for these two planets is between 18 to 22 degrees so if you have any planets or angles in these degree regions then you may feel the intense passion that Mars and Venus are going to stir up. Those with planets in fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio & Aquarius) are really going to feel this aspect very keenly, so you’d better get ready for the fun to begin.

Venus conjunct Acrux and Alphecca – Testing your priorities within relationships

These conjunctions are starting to form now and last a couple of days until 22nd September. They occur at 12:03 degrees Scorpio (Acrux) and 12:29 Scorpio (Alphecca).

This is a really fascinating set of connections that are coming up this weekend. Venus of course is the planet of relationships, of money, possessions and of love and connecting with these two different influences may be very enlightening. Acrux is a star in Crux the constellation of the Southern Cross and this star is very much connected to the material world, to money and the visible side of any partnership what you own. Any relationships seen under this influence are likely to be tinged by how much it is worth to the respective partners, what can you accrue and gain.

Alphecca on the other hand is a star in the Corona Borealis, the female crown or garland of flowers. Here one is often offered a chance for improvement or a rise in social status through luck or love, but it always comes at a cost. I have seen this star sitting conjunct someone’s Ascendant and I know this effect to be scarily accurate.
Venus here linking with these two stars accentuates the financial side of any social dealings, and I think that money and what is owned by who is going to be a bone of contention over the next couple of days. Issues of how much something is worth may crop up in your life and economic concerns may well dominate this weekend. You know money and love when they are intertwined can cause huge problems between people and Venus’ darker side may well be as a result of seeing love in purely financial terms rather than for what it should be, two people caring deeply and truly for one another. You may be tested by these issues over Saturday and Sunday.

There is one more completely different metaphor that is going to happen this weekend that absolutely encapsulated this conjunction. In Germany, Angela Merkel is set to win her 3rd election in a row. The planet Venus, one of the major female influences in the night skies is connecting with Acrux, a star of materialism and structure, and with Alphecca, a star representing the crown of a woman. The stars say that a female is going to gain power and glory and in Germany, Angela is going to be reaffirmed again as the most powerful woman in the world. The thing is, Alphecca says this comes at a price this time. I wonder what that might be?

Venus in Scorpio – Putting your relationships and values on the line

Between 11th September and 7th October, Venus dives into the sign of Scorpio. Venus in Libra is all the search for harmony, sweetness and light and Venus is unlikely to make a firm decision as this combination is all about sitting on the fence. All that changes on the 11th September because Scorpio compels Venus to make one, even if that means that you have to upset someone along the way do so.

Venus conjunct Sirius - A chance for some diplomacy but a threat remains.

This connection is starting to take hold and is in effect up until 15th June 2013

A couple of days ago Mercury rolled over the fixed star Sirius in Canis Minor, the constellation of the great dog. Now it is time for Venus to do the same. As I explained before, Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and has always been seen as a place where the mundane can suddenly be transformed for a brief time into the extraordinary for the world to see.

The soothing, loving effect of Venus will now hold this spot in the sky for a couple of days on the back of her making an intense t-square with first Pluto and then Uranus, one within which relationships will have been strained to their limits. Venus if nothing else is a planet of diplomacy as well as of love, mainly through the influence of Libra who she rules which wants peace and fairness at all costs. This can instil a more calming influence over tense situations and hopefully settle some disputes that have been bubbling and boiling over the last few days.

There is a catch though and I think this applies especially to the on-going situation in Turkey. Mars is still going to be connected to Aldebaran during this time too and so we potentially have a double edged sword being shown. Take the peaceful hand of conciliation being offered (Venus conjunct Sirius) or take the consequences of more violent action (Mars conjunct Aldebaran) if you don't.

Outside this crisis, Venus conjunct to Sirius shows a chance for great creativity, art and beauty to be produced and for lots of love to be shown. Robson says this conjunction indicates ease, comfort and luxury, extravagance and gain by inheritance. Let's hope that these kinds of qualities can win the day...

Venus square Uranus - Feeling the electricity

Did you feel the intensity and deep desire of Venus opposing Pluto yesterday? I was writing about so many other things, that was an aspect I sort of missed. Maybe you felt powerful oppositions in your relationships, maybe emotions were at their height either in a good or bad way, or maybe you felt restricted and blocked in your financial position or over things that you owned?

Today, Venus moves on to exactly square Uranus and now excitement and unexpected events can enter those same spheres of your life. Yes there may still be tension in the air but circumstances may occur today for you to break free especially in regards to love, money or possessions. Venus in emotional Cancer square to Uranus in assertive Aries could bring new exciting opportunities to make money, experience a spark of wild passion or create new beautiful designs. This is an aspect of love fuelled by revolution, by a need for independence and for breaking new ground.

Remember, Uranus' influence is exciting yet fleeting and does not last, so if that is what you want go for it and feel the electricity...

Venus conjunct Hamal and Schedar - Taking a step forward, eventually.

This connection is valid now and through until Monday 22nd April

Venus now in Taurus now is encountering two very positive stars, Hamal, the main star in the constellation of Aries, the Ram and Schedar, the main star in the constellation of Cassiopeia, the Queen of the night skies. Hamal is a brave influence and strong willed too, bold and wanting to take on any challenge. Here we experience the ability to be direct, however any blockage working against this star can cause frustration and anger. Schedar is a royal influence and shows female strength, dignity, honour and wisdom.

In relationships and in any creative venture, i think that these two influences bring a straight forward attitude, the ability to show some individualism and not to worry too much about the consequences of one's actions. This is normally a time of moving forward, making acquaintances maybe with strong women or for those of you reading this who are female, this I think is a particularly good time to take the initiative in your lives. If you are helping anyone now, then you will be able to do so with strength and compassion and to give them your full support.
It is very interesting that Venus in making these connections makes an opposition to Saturn and a trine to Pluto.

Might any association you make now, any creative work you come up or any financial plans you submit be blocked or at least prevented in some way? If so try not to let those negative tendencies of frustration and irritability take over as Saturn's role here is to make you think twice before making a correct decision. Then again, this could indicate encounters with people or taking ideas from people are significantly younger or older than you are. The connection to Pluto could suggest associations or connections with people in power or control, matters of sharing or intimacy or experiences that may transform you in some manner?

All in all and despite that Saturn opposition, I think it is worth using the positivity on offer here, as the people you encounter may allow you to move on and make some significant changes in your position, maybe after a quick review of what is on offer.

Venus Conjunct Al Rescha - Tying things and people together

This aspect is active tomorrow 14th April and active until 16th April

Venus is now coming to meet up with the main star in the constellation of Pisces, the constellation of the fishes. If you don't know, Pisces as a constellation has two fishes swimming in the night skies in opposite directions. Al Rescha (sometimes called Al Rischa) is a star representing the knot in their tails, the only thing that ties these two fish together. If you think of Pisces as a sign, then going off in all directions and not having a single common purpose is a real theme of Piscean people, it is very difficult to hold them down for any amount of time, reflecting the scene in the skies. Pisces is of course linked to water and also Christianity, we all know of the story of Jesus and the loaves and the fishes. In Christianity and Catholicism, marriage is a vital theme, of the love between a man and a woman making a commitment to each other, of tying the knot. The Pope as the signal of his authority over the Roman Catholic church wear's his seal on his fingers, the Fisherman's ring.

Al Rescha as a star reflects the tying of the knot and of holding disparate themes together and bringing them as one. This can be effective in combining different types of knowledge to create wisdom, or it can be through relationships, bringing two different people into a relationship to form a common bond between them. Through Al Rescha then we can open out our minds exposing ourselves to new concepts and people and thus make our lives and understanding more complete.

Venus connecting with this star brings the idea of relationships closer to home, of bringing differing social ideas under a common banner, of uniting people or even nations who may have seen things in very different ways in the name of diplomacy and peace. This can also be a factor in the financial world as a greater understanding of the problems of money and financial problems may come out of people meeting and talking.

Sun and Venus conjunct Scheat - A brave new dawn is coming.

These connections are valid now and in the next 2-3 days until 22nd March

The Sun and Venus give me a good excuse to get out my picture of Pegasus the winged horse again, as this star sits where the saddle would be on his back. As I mentioned last time, Scheat is a star of intellect, of free though and actions and anyone who has a direct connection with this star will be independent and brave, unafraid of speaking their mind and communicating what they see as the truth.

The Sun here indicates a time when people speak their minds and will be very forthright. No mincing of words or hiding things under a veil of secrecy, there is a direct honesty here which will be refreshing seeing as Mercury has been in conjunction with Neptune and Deneb Adige, clouding issues and playing games with the what is right and what is wrong. Finally we can cut through much of the uncertainty and get to what is important.

Venus brings a more social and creative side to the power of Scheat. This promotes innovative design, a more direct approach to forming relationships, in essence the opposite person or party will make it quite clear where they stand and what they expect from you. This is an aspect of the alternative cutting edge artist, the one who goes out on a limb to shock and surprise. Under this influence we can see social change and generally accepted ideas being challenged.

In the next couple of days as the Sun and Venus connect with this star, they also enter the sign of Aries. We are about to enter a time when the playing around stops and the action begins. Let's get it on...

Venus conjunct Chiron – The power of love relieving the pain.

Venus is conjunct to Chiron today (5th March 2013) in Pisces, one of those wonderful aspects that come along every so often that makes one feel at one with the world. Venus is love, Chiron brings healing and Pisces opens the channels for literally anything to happen.

The power of water can be used now to wash away any hurt or bring a flood of wonderful opportunities to solve problems in our lives. Conflicts may be becalmed, money troubles could be relieved, worry can turn to optimism and fears can be overcome, all with the healing love that is offered to us. Maybe you will be the one providing the healing or maybe someone will offer you a chance so help solve a troubling issue that you have been fretting about.
Look to where Venus and Chiron are making the conjunction, look for the house that Pisces is controlling on your chart and then for 9 degrees. That spot is the sweet spot for this hit, although your Venus ruled houses (Taurus & Libra) will also feel the lovely effects of this conjunction too.

Use and feel the positivity and love in the air today, and you will feel much better for it come the end of the day...

Venus conjunct Facies – A focus on finance and social issues

This conjunction is now approaching and will be exact on Wednesday 16^th January

This breaks a quiet period where we have had very few significant planet star connections. Venus is a socially based, it is the planet of love and relationships, also the one representing money and finance in the heavens. Venus also is a planet of beauty, of design (in an artistic sense) and in the international arena the one which highlights diplomacy.

Venus’ meeting with Facies is a meeting of light and shade especially as this connection sees Venus making a conjunction with intense Pluto. The gentle qualities of Venus are arriving in a ruthless and very focused part of the sky. All the above issues may take on a much more heightened awareness in your life and in the world. There may be very strong and impassioned comment debate and criticism over money and financial issues. Banks and financial institutions that are over stepping the mark may well be the targets of this. The same could be said in the creative world as some music, art or design could be the focus of controversial opinions. In love and relationships, you may be impelled to start a relationship that you were not expecting to fall into, and crimes of passion and love may occur in the world as a result of this conjunction. In social issues, those in charge may decide to be ruthless with any people who overstep the line of the law, and people who feel strongly about an issue will make their feelings plainly felt. Any diplomatic talks may be highly charged with counties taking definite sides that may highlight splits or divisions.

You know with this aspect I think of cupid or the statue of Eros in Piccadilly Circus in London. We have the archer (Facies is in the constellation of Sagittarius) combined with the symbol of love. This archer mind you not only fires arrows of love, he shoots ones that can hurt and kill. These are a couple of days when injustice, jealousy and passions of all kinds will rise and determined opposition will be activated counter them. If you are firing arrows this week, make sure your target is the correct one and your shot is straight and true, otherwise you may get back in return more than you bargained for.

Venus conjunct Ras Alhague - Healing with love

This aspect is now active and is valid until 4th January 2013

After the rather traumatic energy of November and December last year, this aspect comes along and brings a notion of calm and a real chance to repair some damage. Ras Alhague is a star in Orphiuchus, the serpent holder. The sign of a stick with a snake coiled around it is the sign of health and medical services around the world, and the stars of this constellation of the man holding a coiled serpent take on the same meaning. Ras Alhague is a star of teaching, of healing, rejuvenation, knowledge and rebirth.

Venus arriving to conjoin with Ras Alhague brings the nature of social healing. Where there is discord between peoples this gentle conjunction will smooth away the differences. In the house of representatives where a vote on taxes and financial cuts needs to be passed, I think over the next day or so the opposition will lessen as it becomes apparent to the politicians that the people and the economy of the US needs mending, and this will only be achieved through agreement and compromise, and not through having entrenched points of view . Venus is the planet of diplomacy and of money, and her powers will be given a chance here to work her magic.

If you are in a troubled relationship or you have had arguments with people in the recent past, something may happen now or in the next couple of days to soothe the pain. Through this aspect we learn the lessons of our ways and find that a little love and caring can go a long way, not in your own life but in other people's lives too. As the New Year gets going, this is just the tonic we need...

Venus conjuncts Arcturus and Spica - Trying to find a peaceful solution

So interesting how the stars are acting out a drama at this present time which is developing in the Middle East. I have looked previously many times at Spica in Virgo "the shining one" and Arcturus in Bootes "the hunter and teacher" so I won't go back over their meanings. Venus comes calling to this part of the sky now to conjunct with both stars simultaneously in the next couple of days. Venus is a social planet, a planet of peace and of diplomacy.

Now with the aggression rising in Israel and Gaza, the most talented diplomats in the world are trying to work their magic to get one or the other side to back down as the rockets fly and the air raids continue. Arcturus shows a propensity to lead from the front and to explore new possibilities, and Venus on Spica is clever and persuasive, and good at networking. The leaders of the world will have to use all their inventive charm to get a resolution to this seemingly intractable problem. It's not going to be an easy job.

In your life, after Mars has been running through the stars of the Scorpion's tail (Aculeus and Acumen), Neptune squared to Mercury retro causing confusion and that powerful eclipse of the Sun, I will bet somewhere in your life that tension would have been at a high point; it certainly was in mine. Now, Venus comes to try to soothe the pain a little using all it's charm and social skills. We all now need a little tender care and attention from this more gentle influence in the heavens...

Venus in Libra trine Jupiter in Gemini - Spread the love around

This aspect is now active until around 10th November.

In the middle of all the stressful eclipse aspects coming up, Mercury retrograde which can cause disruption and Venus' recent connection with the Uranus Pluto square which would have stirred up problems in relationships, now Venus in it's home sign starts to connect in a lovely trine to Jupiter.

This is lazy, easy going, flirtatious and fun; just about what we need right now, especially for those of you in the US who have endured Super Storm Sandy and the barrage of TV ads, phone calls and emails all in the aid of your Presidential Election. This is the ultimate de-stress aspect and a chance to have fun with and be generous to the one you love or to find a new friend to hook up with. Go out, meet people, socialize and enjoy, for more stress lies in wait for us all as November progresses.
