Astrology of the Day – Moon in Taurus – Wednesday 20th February 2018

Themis 5782
Mars conjunct Ras Algethi - Acting to see justice prevail

Contrary to the previous few days, this one with the Moon in Taurus promises to be a really busy and fluctuating one. The Moon in Taurus makes us much calmer than the past couple of days, but we still won't appreciate too much change or disruption to the plans that we want to carry out. The Taurean Moon wants stability to build upon, and we may get irritated if we are challenged with situations that try and force us into doing something that we are not keen on.

To begin with today the Moon makes a sextile to Mercury and a trine to Saturn. These aspect should get us organised and prepared for all eventualities, and if we need to show some authority we can do so with a calm demeanour, and we can be counted on to say the right things at the right time. We may be praised for our business like and efficient approach to things. These two planets will perfect a sextile between themselves later on this afternoon, and this aspect will be perfect for any demanding work that needs keen concentration and a good eye for detail.

Following on from this a few hours later, the Moon makes simultaneous sextiles to Venus and Neptune as these two planets combine in a conjunction. Neptune and Venus together tend to blur the lines in relationship situations, and also create idealised love that can make us fall for the most unusual people, and in particular the waifs and strays in life who fall off the rails. Existing relationships could be plunged into confusion, or you may feel that you are being duped or lied to by a partner, either romantic or professional, and this may lead to emotionally charged situations. You may not see eye to eye with others, and the stubborn Taurean Moon may exacerbate differences between those who are flexible in attitude and those who aren't. On the plus side there is a lot of compassionate energy here and we can show love and caring to those who are in trouble or require assistance, plus we can utilise our emotional feelings to create beautiful pictures, visions and ideas.
Into the late afternoon Mercury makes that aforementioned sextile to Saturn and then just before the day ends, the Moon will make a tricky little inconjunct aspect to Mars. We may be upset or angered by having to do things a different way, or by someone who changes something that we wanted to keep as it was.

Mars also make the most influential star connection during this day as it connects with Ras Algethi, the premier star in the constellation of Hercules, Ras Algethi. This is a star of bowing to a higher power, and we may be confronted by a situation where we have to compromise our position to someone of higher stature, or if we don't wish to do that we may fight against those who are trying to put pressure or impose restrictions on us. We may want to defend a moral code that we live under and we will also wants to see justice prevail, not only in our life but in others too, indeed this is a day of justice and seeing that the right decisions are found and imposed.

Astrology of the Day – Moon into Taurus – Tuesday 20th February 2018

geyser
Moon square Pluto - Pressure building before an explosion

The Moon finishes its transit through the sign of Aries today, but before it does it has a few aspects with the other planets to contend with first. As you will realise Aries is a put your foot first influence, and sometimes Aries can act first and think later. The same can be said of our emotions now, and we may emotionally react to situations whereas a cooler and more reserved reaction might be more appropriate. We might say things out of sheer enthusiasm that we may regret later.
The Moon initially makes a very powerful square to Pluto. Intense emotional outbursts are entirely possible early on today, and inside we may be building up pressure like a geyser preparing to send a jet of water into the air. We could be intensely attracted to people, or we may bring out the best or worst in others, as our actions and emotional reactions inspire or annoy. Try to be aware of what you say or how you treat all around you.

The Moon then moves on to form an inconjunct aspect to Jupiter. Now in the middle of the day complacency can be our enemy, as we take a situation too lightly or not as seriously as we should do. We may learn a lesson from a situation where we were lacking in knowledge, or we could believe something but actually realise that the truth lies elsewhere. Following on from this, the Moon forms a conjunction to Uranus. This aspect is always one where we react a little crazily, or we may try to put other people off from what they are trying to do. We may be disruptive, intentionally or unintentionally, and we could infuriate others if we are too stubborn or stuck in our ways. Alternatively, we may be attracted to new ways of doing things or by creating exciting situations by taking a risk.

As the evening comes around the Moon moves into Taurus and things settle down a lot, especially as it soon makes an easy looking sextile to the Sun in Pisces. We will feel more at ease and emotionally settled at last, and others will start to relax in our company too. The rather stressed out and incendiary emotions that may have punctured the past two days will drift away, and we will crave that which we know, and those who we love and feel comfortable in sharing our lives with.

There are two planet and star aspects that colour this day too, as Mercury makes contact with the stars Sadalmelek in the constellation of Aquarius as well as Fomalhaut in Piscis Australis, the Southern Fish. Sadalmelek as you will remember if you read my daily updates is a star of making your own luck, and the decisions we make, the agreements we strike or the things we say may prove to be ones where we can gain in the future. We may be in the right place at the right time, and magical things may happen as a result. The star Fomalhaut is a poetic, charismatic and intensely creative star and we can have the most inspiring ideas, and our words and communications may be praised by others. Unfortunately on the flip side, there is a danger that we may become too egotistical and arrogant too, promise far more than we can deliver, or worse still we may be tempted to lie to cover up a situation, and as a result these actions may tarnish our reputation in the future. In the world around us matters that are thought to be true, but prove not to be may make the news.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Aries – Monday 19th February 2018

skier
Downhill skier - Moon in Aries

The Moon is in the sign of Aries all day today, and we will be alive, assertive, quick tempered, impatient and willing to take on any challenge at a moment's notice. We will be much more passionate now and full of enthusiasm to get things moving. This is a quick fire start to a new week and we will want to get working hard, fast and smart. There is an independent streak that will overtake our emotions and makes us want to do things on our own.

This is another very quiet day astrologically, and the Moon only makes a couple of major aspects to the other planets. The first is an early square to Saturn moving in Capricorn. This is a difficult connection to handle depressing our emotions and putting the brakes on the Aries Moon that does want to run before it can walk. We may feel slightly reserved in the first half of the day and this aspect makes us albeit briefly more cautious than later on. We may also become a little more distant and not so willing to engage with other people. Left alone will will feel happier to get on with the tasks that we have to do.

That reticence will drift away as we reach around noon in the UK and from then on a sense of adventure and haste will drive us on as the Moon makes an exciting fire trine to Mars moving in Sagittarius. This revs up our emotions to fever pitch, makes us want to take on the world and win. It encourages us to take emotional risks, enlivens our sex drives and gives us the optimism to make brave decisions. Like a downhill skier on a mission to put up the quickest time, our emotions will be on edge in a good way this evening. We will want to hit top speed and go as fast as we can, we will be full of enthusiasm and willing to take on any situation with a smile on our faces and confidence in our abilities to succeed. Our goal will to reach the finishing line before anywhere else, and even the slow start to the day will not hold us back.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Aries – Sunday 18th February 2018

leaves
Mercury and Sun in Pisces - Going with the flow

The Moon begins the day still in the mutable sign of Pisces and there is a fluidity of or emotions that you will be aware of, although maybe some confusion and uncertainty too as the Moon remains void of course through the first half of the day. Actually, this is promising to be a most unusual day as the Moon will only make one major aspect during Sunday, and the only other notable Astrological effects will be planets changing signs.

The first of these comes as the Sun is rising with Mercury shifting into the sign of Pisces. There will be a dramatic change of emphasis as Mercury exits Aquarius, as we leave behind cool logical thought processes for a much more incoherent, and yet intuitive way of thinking and making decisions. The Moon then makes an emotionally healing link up with Chiron, although it will also make you feel the inadequacies in your life too. By realising and coming to terms with them, then you can emotionally heal the hurts of the past.

We will feeling be MUCH more sensitive with Mercury in Pisces, even more so when in the afternoon the Sun also moves into the sign of the fishes. This will for a few days create a Pisces log jam with Sun, Mercury, Venus, Neptune and Chiron in this sacrificial sign. This is the sign of universal love, of understanding without knowing, of sensing what is right and what is wrong and of pure creativity and inspiration. Over the next few days there will be a danger of believing our own hype and of blissfully floating along instead of properly planning out our actions. Much can go wrong if we take too much for granted.

Luckily just before the Sun moves into Pisces, the Moon passes over the celestial boundary and begins a new cycle of evolution by moving into Aries. This will sharpen up our emotions and bring us more direction and purpose. We will react with straight answers and honesty, and the go around the houses nature of some the responses we receive because of the Piscean energy dominating the rest of the chart may frustrate us a lot. This battle between the certain of Aries and the uncertain of Pisces is going to keep us completely off balance for a while leading us to make mistakes, and because of this our moods may shift and swirl like a leaf caught up in a gust of wind. My advice is to hold steady if you can, and hold fire for the calmer emotions of the Moon in Taurus in a couple of day's time.

Astrology of the Day – Mars square Neptune – Saturday 17th February 2018

chaos
Chaos, then a return to order

The Moon remains in the elusive sign of Pisces today and our emotions may be a bit all over the place. The Pisces Moon is very imaginative, sacrificial and escapist and wants to believe that everything is going to be perfect, but often you know it isn't. The idealism that the Pisces Moon is often let down by the movements of the planets elsewhere, as if they can't live up to that which the Pisces Moon expects. There is a vulnerability of the emotions here, and anyone with the Moon in Pisces can be so sensitive and weak, that they can be taken advantage of by hardier souls. This as you will read is a day of two halves, the first part being much more difficult than the latter half of the day.

The first three aspect that affect us today are all linked. Initially the Moon will make a tense square aspect to Mars, as it makes an almost simultaneous conjunction with Neptune. Just after this, Mars perfects the square to Neptune. Mars square to Neptune is can be very difficult to control. Mars is action, the will to win, aggression and potential violence, and Neptune at worst is uncontrolled, diffuse, confusing, deceptive and chaotic. Putting these forces into a difficult angle with the Moon can bring out a bad reaction, and we should be careful how we direct our emotions and our actions, as there could be severe irritation and anger, situations may be misconstrued, seen as disruptive, escapist or even illegal. This is a potent square where all sorts of things could go wrong, and how you react to things not going to plan, may affect how others react to you. In the potential chaos of this triple aspect we may despair, feel at a loss what to do or in which direction to go. To alleviate this, if you can then plan ahead for things going wrong, and have back up ideas and strategies just in case “the shit hits the fan!!” I apologise for the language, but it's the most effective way of putting the potential effects of this nasty square.

After a difficult morning, the Sun makes a conjunction with Mercury in Aquarius, and we will want to have our own way, and do our own thing. We may be stubborn in the way that we approach things (Aquarius is a fixed sign), and the lack of flexibility in our thoughts may hold us back or prevent us from seeing the correct path we need. On the plus side, we will be able to innovate and use our friends and contacts to help us out. The power of group communication may pull us through a difficult situation.

Later on in the day, the Moon forms a opportunistic sextile to Pluto and latterly a beneficial trine to Jupiter. Any changes we make this evening or power that we use can help us to move forwards and expand our lives. Maybe you will encounter people who have a distinct hold over you, or maybe suggestions made this evening can open up new paths for you to follow? One thing is for sure, and that is that this evening we will be much more self assured than earlier in the day, and that will allow us to feel brighter and more optimistic.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Pisces – Friday 16th February 2018

put your feet up
Moon conjunct Venus - Feel the peace and contentment

The Moon begins the day void of course in Aquarius after the Solar Eclipse of the previous day is dissolving, but not for long as it soon makes a shift into the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces. The Moon here makes us much more compassionate, sensitive to the moods around us, intuitive, imaginative and sacrificial. We can tap into the zeitgeist now to get the answers we need, and information will come to us much more through feeling and what we sense than the day before.

Astrologically this is a most quiet blue sky day, with the Moon making just two connections to the other planets. The first of these sees the Moon making a sextile to Saturn around lunchtime in the UK. The second comes soon afterwards with the Moon making a conjunction to Venus. The sextile to Saturn calms our emotions which is a good thing, as the Moon in Pisces can be so sensitive that things that emotionally hit us can bring us to tears. We can ally the organisational and administrative ability of Saturn to the intuition of the Pisces moon to make the right calls when needed. We can structure our creative output, put the meat on the bones of the ideas and thoughts we have, bring our visions into reality. If we do find ourselves in stressful situations, Saturn will allow us to think clearly without allowing our emotions to get out of hand.

The conjunction with Venus is a very compassionate and thoughtful influence and it promises a peaceful few hours in our lives, which I would think would be a blessing to us all. There is love and caring in abundance and we will willingly give up our time for other people to make sure that they are ok. We will feel as if we need to be with others, especially with family or close friends, and you will want them to feel warm, looked after and safe. If you are out shopping, you may intuitively know what is a bargain and what isn't. Trust your feelings and you may get a good deal for your money. It's a day to dream, to contemplate and to feel the love, and all in all you should be able to relax and feel wanted. Put your feet up and feel the peace and serenity, as the planets are rarely in such a benevolent and loving mood.

Astrology of the Day – Solar Eclipse in Aquarius – Thursday 15th February 2018

Swan
The Swan - Representing the constellation of Cygnus

The Moon is today in the sign of Aquarius, the sign of technical advancement, of doing your own thing and not caring about tradition. This is a day that we look to the future and our emotions reactions will not worry about what has gone before. What does the future hold? Well it represents what you want to make out of it, and this day will go a long way to deciding which path you take.

The Moon initially forms a square to Jupiter setting the tone for us to expand our lives and to embrace the taking of a chance. We will be not so detail orientated rather than goal orientated and we will want to make an big impression. This is a confident and rather forgiving aspect, generous with praise, and supportive with mistakes made.

Mercury makes the next aspect of the day with a sextile to Uranus, with the Moon closing in on a conjunction with Mercury and thus also a second sextile to the rebel planet. This Moon Mercury and Uranus triple connection has so many ideas and brings lots of opportunities to connect with clever individuals. It will allow you to get your views seen by the public and to innovate, invent and to find out new things. This is a dream set of connections for those who are trying something new, going in a different direction and making important decisions. Through it we will be logical, and our emotions will be allow us to foster a clear thought process. We will then experience the Solar eclipse in Aquarius, effectively a new Moon where the Moon blocks out the light from the Sun. All new Moons promise new beginnings, and in some regard this eclipse will see a new start in your life, either through choice or by unexpected circumstance.

The final aspect of the day sees Saturn making a sextile to Venus with the planet of love connecting with the main star in the constellation of Cygnus the Swan, Deneb Adige. This star has mystical properties and it also brings subtlety with strength, and Venus combined with this star bring out the true performer in people when it comes to forming relationships. There will be a sense of theatre about the way we treat our partners, and also how we show off the resources we have. Saturn will slightly tone down the tendency for us to boast, but in practical terms we will still flaunt what we have and own, and act with a sense of entitlement, class and decorum towards those we are interested in, and those we love. Nothing will be too much trouble, and if you are on the receiving end, enjoy it while it lasts...

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Aquarius – Wednesday 14th February 2018

aquarius
Aquarius - The water barer

The Moon continues onwards in the sign of Aquarius on this Valentines Day. Now for supposedly the most romantic day of the year, this position for the Moon is one of rather cold and icy emotions. The Moon in Aquarius looks for something a little bit different and actually traditions are not things that it appreciates, indeed showing love on a wider community scale or to the group is much more Aquarius' thing rather than to any individual in particular.

At the beginning of the day Mercury is in a square aspect to Jupiter, an aspect that started to form late yesterday. This aspect gives us a broad outlook for the day and although we may have a lot of ideas for the future we may struggle to settle on which one we wish to pursue. There is also a possibility that we may try to take on too much today, and end up letting ourselves or someone else down, as we over estimate what we can actually achieve.

The Sun early on also makes an aspect, a sextile to Uranus. Like yesterday and complementing the Moon in Aquarius, there is an unorthodox feel that we will pick up on, as if it's good to be different and to express your talents, however they come to you. Why not experiment and be yourself? There is a feel for technology, science and the social network today, the spreading and sharing of information far and wide.

The Moon makes its only connection with an active and pretty direct sextile to Mars. There will be some impatience as this day progresses and a desire to get things done. We may be competitive and there will be an emotional pull to get one over on or be better than those who we see as a rival. Those who complain or try to make excuses will be given little time, and our attitude will be either to put up or shut up.

Mercury makes a couple of star connections today, with conjunctions to the star Deneb Algedi in the constellation of Capricorn and Sadalsuud in the constellation of Aquarius. Deneb as it is popularly known, sits in the tail of the Goat and is connected to rules and the making and upholding of the law, and it is likely that in the world around us law makers, legal decisions, or challenges to international law may be in the news. I can also imagine that the freedom of the press may be an issue today. Situations or incidents linked to vehicles and transport may also catch the imagination. The other connection to Sadalsuud is quite a fortunate one, and it suggests that our ideas and decisions may catch the right tone today. There could be a flair for business and for finding the right answers at the right time, so follow what seems honest, right and logical to you, and then you won't be far off making this Valentines Day a successful one.

Monday 12 February 2018

Astrology of the Day – Venus conjunct Fomalhaut – Tuesday 13th February 2018

Fashion-Show
Following Fashion - Venus conjunct Sadalmelek

The Moon continues its journey through the sign of Capricorn during Tuesday with the result being that through the first part of the day we will place a lot of emphasis on being organised, disciplined and working to better ourselves. We may be rather bossy and dogmatic in the way we will want things to go our way, done to our standards and we will get rather irritated if someone goes against our wishes. We may think initially rather conservatively, but this will soon change.

The Moon leaves behind a rather optimistic sextile to Jupiter formed late yesterday, and goes on to form a more enterprising square to Uranus. The square will make us emotionally on edge, excited and craving for something new and different. There is also the desire to network with those far and wide (combining this aspect with the previous Jupiter sextile) and to shake up establishment ideas and thinking. We will require some emotional freedom today too, and we will rebel against anyone and anything that ties us down. Soon after this aspect completes, the Moon will go on to form a sextile to Chiron, an easy connection that in the same way nudges us to find ingenious solutions to intractable problems and difficulties.

The Moon then shifts into Aquarius and the same vibe will affect us for the rest of the day. The Moon in Aquarius is logical in the extreme and not influenced by sentiment or displays of emotion, as everything can be explained through the simple facts of any situation. We will take on a cool and slightly impersonal feel, and this evening will be motivated by all that is new and what we can achieve, rather than what we already have, what has been and what the past taught us.

The main star planet connections of the day also tie into the Aquarian energy as Venus connects with two stars, Sadalmelek in the constellation of Aquarius and Fomalhaut, one of the great stars of the sky in the constellation of Piscis Australis, the southern fish. Sadalmelek is a lucky and fortunate star in the urn held by the water barer, and it represents the flow coming out the urn, the life bringing waters that we all rely on. With this star we create our own luck, and therefore the decisions we make in love and connected to our values may turn out to be fortunate ones. Venus is also the planet of beauty and this connection allows us to innovate with colour and design, and to appreciate the latest art and fashion.

At the same time, Venus links up with the star Fomalhaut, one of the Royal Persian stars. This is a star of some charisma, magic and mystical star quality and anyone with it connected to their chart may have a special aura about them, but they may consider themselves almost too high minded and they may suffer because of an inflated ego or hubris. Venus with this star brings a poetic charm to the energy today and we can find beauty in romance, in creation and in the values that we express. There is an artistic feel today, so let all your inhibitions go, embrace all that is modern and new, and don't look back and instead look forward into the future...

Sunday 11 February 2018

Astrology of the Day – Mars conjunct Antares – Monday 12th February 2018

Gold medal
Desire to Win - Mars conjunct Antares

The Moon spends the whole day in the sign of Capricorn, and we will be keeping most of emotional responses very much to ourselves today. The Capricorn Moon hates to appear weak or needy, and even if we do require help or assistance we will soldier on to look capable, even if we know that we can't achieve what we are setting out to do just by ourselves. In the same way we will be reticent to show much emotion lest we show our vulnerabilities. We won't ask for emotional support, but actually we will crave it more than you would ever think.

Initially Moon makes a sextile to Neptune and this connection for a little while lightens up our emotions and almost frees them up. We will still have a disciplined approach, but we will be able to marry this up to our imaginations and vision, this is a great aspect for creative or charity work where our we can use the compassion and inspiration within us to best effect.

The Moon moves on to conjunct Pluto and there will be much more intensity in the middle of the day. We will hide our emotions in very much the same way as the Moon in Capricorn does, and yet we will feel every situation very intimately too. We will demand certainty now, and any prevarication or sitting on the fence will not be tolerated. Yes or no, in or out, commit or hold back, black or white. Those are the answers we will appreciate the most.

Just before the day ends, the Moon forms an easier sextile to Jupiter and once again we will be able to loosen up and take things more with a pinch of salt. The feeling we will get now will be one of optimism and adventure, and we will be much more forgiving than we were earlier on. If we were a bit harsh or demanding on other people, we will eventually find it in our hearts to apologise and admit that we were indeed wrong.

Now throughout this day there is a very potent star planet conjunction as Mars makes contact with one of the great stars of the sky, the star Antares that sits in the heart of the constellation of Scorpio. This conjunction mirrors the Moon Pluto one, and it will up the intensity levels to a high pitch. You may find yourself very much on edge, wanting to get things done as quickly as possible with a minimum of fuss. All our desires will be fired up, out tempers will be sharp, our reflexes good and our passions and sexual needs on high alert. This is a life and death connection and the need for survival will be paramount. The overriding emotion will be one of competition, and of winning and losing. It will be one where the survival of the fittest will be the most important factor, so be prepared to fight for what you want and what you want to achieve, and if you want it enough, then victory and the gold medal can indeed be yours.

Thursday 1 February 2018

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Virgo - Friday 2nd February 2018

swimmer
Moon opposite Neptune - Swimming against the tide

The Moon is in the modest and organised sign of Virgo during this Friday, and we will go about our duties with a minimum and fuss and bother. The lunar energy impels us to get things right, and if we can't carry out our tasks just as we want them, then we will continue to fuss over them until we finally get the exact results that we want. Everything has to be done with precision, efficiently and properly, by not cutting corners and not by taking chances. No, under the Moon in Virgo, that would never do.

The Moon begins the day by making a square to Mars now moving in Sagittarius. Our emotions will always be on edge with a square aspect between these two celestial bodies and here the reserved emotions of the Moon may totally frustrate the freewheeling adventurous Mars. Someone who is far more open and wiling to take a risk may intervene in our careful plans and upset them completely, or their open nature may cut right across the disciplined path that we are trying to tread.

After this upset, the Moon makes a much easier trine to Saturn in Capricorn, and we can get back on track after the initial upsets that we endured earlier on. These two planets in these signs are communicating well and have a similar down to earth attitude. Because of this we will be diligent, careful and we can make slow but steady progress to achieve our goals.

In the latter part of the day there is an opposition to Neptune from the Moon and also an inconjunct aspect to the Sun. We may feel more disorientated or bemused the longer this day goes on. Our emotions and feelings will be out of sync with what we want to achieve, and this may lead us to wonder what is actually going on, as if our best efforts are constantly being thwarted. You may feel as if you are treading water or swimming against the current of the river. The only way to get around this will be to go with the prevailing tide, and let the water carry you where you need to go. You might not end up at the right destination, but at least the frustration level within you will reduce, and once the waters subside you'll be able to concentrate more effectively tomorrow.

Wednesday 31 January 2018

Astrology of the Day – Venus conjunct Sualocin - Thursday 1st February 2018

Dolphin
Dolphin - Venus conjunct Sualocin

The Moon is in the sign of Leo for majority of the day, and we will want to feel loved and approved of. The Moon in Leo is very enthusiastic and we will encourage others and be very giving towards them, however inside we will be wanting reciprocation, and if it isn't forthcoming then we are likely to get hurt, we may sulk and be emotionally affected by the lack of attention. This need within us is paramount while the Moon remains in this sign.

The Moon begins the day making an inconjunct to Pluto and soon after a square to Jupiter. Initially we may feel rather confident and unworried about what is going on, and we may make changes to things without really understanding the real ramifications of what we are doing. This “oh well, it'll be fine in the end” attitude could prove problematic to us as the morning progresses. The Moon later on forms a trine to Uranus and an inconjunct to Chiron, and we may feel a need to make progress and not to go back to old ways of doing things. There is a sense with Mercury newly in in Aquarius that we have to find new ideas and different attitudes now, and this connection only supports our motivations to move forward.

The Moon towards the end of the day enters the less outgoing sign of Virgo and we will experience a quieter period now. It soon forms an inconjunct to Mercury, and as a result circumstances may conspire to see us changing our minds over something, or realising that what we are doing is in error, and realising that we would be better to go in a different direction. There is also the chance of a rebuke from someone who is unhappy the way that we are treating them. This day may end on a little bit of a down note, after the upbeat nature that we started with.

Now there are two planet star connections today that will colour this day too. The first sees Mercury on the star Altair in the constellation of Aquila, the Eagle. This is a dynamic aspect for sure. Mercury flies high now and thinks just as fast. We can plan with expert precision, link logically and in a very disciplined manner. In the world around us there could be stories in the news connected to the airlines or the military services. The second aspect sees Venus connected to the star Sualocin, the jovial star in the constellation of Delphinus, the Dolphin. This is a fun and clever influence, and combined with the diplomatic charm of Venus we can seduce and bring people to our way thinking without much trouble. There could be a focus on the arts, dance, performance, celebrities and entertainers, or anything that amuses us or fills us with with happiness that catches our attention.

Tuesday 30 January 2018

Astrology of the Day – Lunar Eclipse in Leo – Wednesday 31st January 2018

Eclipse of the Moon
Lunar Eclipse in Leo

The Moon in is the regal sign of Leo today and we will feel proud and full of ourselves. This is a day to be on show and to present yourself to the world, the Leo Moon wouldn't have it any other way. There is a warm-hearted side to us as well, and we may be generous to the hilt towards those we love and adore, so long as we receive the attention that we crave from them too.
Now this day starts off with the Moon making a difficult inconjunct aspect to Saturn, and this aspect may stop us in our tracks as we may be forced by circumstances or by someone who holds some sway over us to backtrack or adjust our attitudes. We may be slightly hurt by harsh words or a less than sympathetic attitude.

The Moon then sets off on its own until at 13.27 GMT it makes an opposition with the Sun, and because this opposition finds the Earth in the way of the solar light for a short while, the Moon will be plunged into darkness and a Lunar Eclipse will be formed. The eclipse will be fully seen in Central and Eastern Asia, most of Australia, Alaska and Western Canada. This eclipse across the Leo Aquarius axis will highlight our individual needs as against those of the groups we are members of, and you may find these themes coming out in your lives in some way. This eclipse I think will highlight the mother figure or senior lady in your family or in your life, and she will be an important factor in the months ahead.

After the eclipse starts to dissipate, Mercury moves into the air sign of Aquarius. This happening so soon after the eclipse gives us an indication of what is coming. It's time to network, get your message out as an individual to the group and the wider community. It's time to think differently and more radically to and to express those ideas that you have been harbouring for some time, and act on them. The Moon then moves on to make an inconjunct aspect to Neptune, an aspect of some emotional disappointment and some sacrifice too. Will you be let down now? Will your pride be hurt? You may not see the ramifications of what is going on as Neptune often veils the full effects of any actions taken, however something hidden or someone in the shadows may be working against you without you realising it. Stay calm and aware of all possibilities.

The final act of this day sees the Moon opposing Venus, and we may be challenged in a relationship, or not see eye to eye with a partner. This aspect also sets the scene I think in the days and months ahead for the relationships that you are in to be put to the test. I'm not saying straight up they relationships will be broken up. Of course that is an irresponsible thing to suggest, but this Full Moon eclipse may highlight deficiencies in how you relate to others and how you value things and people in your lives. It'll be time in the weeks and months ahead to examine your attitudes and to make improvements so that the relationships you are in can actually survive the tests and rigours of time...

Astrology of the Day – Moon into Leo - Tuesday 30th January 2018

more work to do
Moon in Cancer opposite Mercury in Capricorn - More paperwork to do...

The Moon is in Cancer for most of today, and we may feel just a bit moody because of this, at least until this evening. We also may feel rather sentimental too as the Moon and this sign is linked to our heritage, where we come from, and who we are related too. This is a time when we are more tied into our family and those who are close to us, and also we may be less inclined to go out and about if there is a chance of a day or evening in the comfort of our own homes.

The day starts off with an opposition to Pluto and we may have to deal with people with power over us, matters to do with big finance, taxes, investments or things that have been lent or loaned. There is a possibility that we may have to change our planned course of action because of pressure or manipulation being placed on us. This aspect is followed by an adventurous trine to Jupiter and a square to Uranus. There will be a feeling of relief and almost a weight off our shoulders and a sense of freedom with these aspects following the one from Pluto. There is a release for us now and a desire to break free and maybe do something more adventurous.

The Moon in the middle of the day forms a trine to Chiron and an opposition to Mercury. The Chiron aspect is quite adventurous too and it brings out our talents through our emotions, we will be most effective now when we feel what is right. That sense of know what is right for us and what isn't may be useful as the Moon then makes an opposition to Mercury. This opposition sees a rather stern Mercury in Capricorn questioning us and instead of giving the straight answers that Mercury wants, we may go round the houses and do everything we can to avoid the issues at hand. This could lead to confrontation, however we may just be able to hit the right emotional balance to keep disagreements to a minimum. Maybe our boss wants us to stay late at work, whereas we'd rather go home?

The Moon then moves into Leo and makes a fiery trine to Mars. There is a need for action now and maybe what we do now can make up for what we weren't able to say earlier on? There is more enthusiasm now and a need for us to to be appreciated and loved at the end of the day. The Moon is now on a collision course with the opposing Sun, a Lunar Eclipse awaits us soon, but more of that tomorrow...

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Cancer - Monday 29th January 2018

Back to back
Moon inconjunct Venus - Not on the same wavelength as our partner

The Moon is in the family orientated, caring sign of Cancer today and we are much more emotional, moody and attuned into the rhythms of the day than we were when the Moon was in Gemini just yesterday. Our commitments are to the ones we love, our home and to home comforts too, like food. Cancer loves cooking and we may go the extra mile today to create something in the kitchen that we know everyone will enjoy.

The Moon makes an initial opposition to Saturn first up today and so we may have some serious business to attend to before we really get going today. This may be official work, responsibilities that we know we have to carry out and the like. We may be challenged by others to “pull our socks up” and emotionally we may be just a little repressed. This opposition stops the normal flow of emotions and also limits our options too. The Moon then forms an inconjunct to the Sun and we may feel rather “off balance” or unsure of ourselves, indeed others might find us inconsistent or more difficult than we normally are. If you have to depend on someone else now, try not to. Under this aspect it's much better to try and do things yourself, and if you do make a mistake then at least you can't blame anyone else but yourself.

The Moon follows on to make a very pleasant trine to Neptune. This is a lovely thoughtful and peaceful influence and we may spend most of the afternoon dreaming of what could be. We may not get too much work done now as our minds and emotions wander off and imagine what we would like to be doing rather than the actual tasks that we should be carrying out.

The final aspect on this quiet day sees the Moon forming an inconjunct to Venus, the planet of love and values. If we are looking for affection from our partner, spouse or lover this evening it may not so forthcoming, as they will seem to be on a different wavelength than we are. Maybe we will say the wrong things or act in a way that they just can't appreciate. If this is the case, don't worry or get too upset – this is possible as the Moon is after all in moody Cancer. We can't always see eye to eye and rest assured that things will back to normal in the not too distant future...

Astrology of the Day – Mercury square Uranus - Sunday 28th January 2018

touchscreen
Mercury square Uranus - connecting through technology

The Moon is again in Gemini as we begin the day, and it will be here in this sign until evening. Emotionally we are very cool and much more attuned anything where our minds can be stimulated. If there is an issue, then we will much prefer to talk things through rather than trying to act first. We will love the conversation and the debate, but we will also be restless, and if anything annoys us we may bite back more sharply than is normally the case.

Very appropriately for sign that is always on the go, this is a very busy day, and there will be many aspects to get through. To start off with the Moon forms two inconjunct aspects to Pluto and then to Jupiter, and as these two planets are in a sextile, the Moon forms the point of a transiting Yod, or finger of God aspect. We will now be emotionally receptive to and we may be able to embrace fundamental changes that can expand our lives. The sense that is a day of shifting expectations continues as Mercury now forms a square to Uranus. This is an aspect of networking with the wider community as well as providing a spark of inspiration if we wish to use the energy on offer. We can shock with our insights and our language now, and there is a progressive feel to this moment that excites us, but also makes us impatient too.

The Moon then makes a connection to both these planets, a sextile to Uranus and another inconjunct aspect to Mercury. The channels are truly open now and we are impelled to connect with others. There may be a focus on technology, computers, social media, science, space and the universe. We will want to find out information, our minds will be truly alive and stimulated by need to find out more.

Mercury and the Moon are moving in tandem now, and they both make aspects to the maverick influence Chiron next, Mercury a sextile and the Moon a square. Chiron asks us to find ingenious solutions to long standing hurtful problems, and through a combination of our thoughts, ideas and emotional responses, maybe we can?

The Moon now moves on and shifts into her home sign of Cancer before making a slightly awkward inconjunct aspect to Mars. At the lunar change of signs at the moment, we are being asked to act or react, and this contact may force us to readjust our attitudes. Through actions aimed against us, we may be emotionally hurt as Mars in Sagittarius is notoriously blunt and less than subtle, and the Moon in Cancer is very sensitive and easily upset. There could be a rather difficult end to an otherwise inspirational day.

Astrology of the Day – Moon in Gemini – Saturday 27th January 2018

Balls and cups
Moon in Gemini - Playing tricks on you

The Moon is in the mutable sign of Gemini all of today, a sign of communication, information and unreliability. Yes Gemini isn’t the sign you would want to depend up if you had an important situation to deal with, as they might say one thing but then do something completely different. That’s the Jekyll and Hyde nature of this most engaging and interesting of signs at work. All the same, if you want to juggle a dozen tasks at the same time, and keep on top of all of them simultaneously, then a Gemini would be the one you would call upon. Such is the frustrating, infuriating and yet useful nature of the sign of the twins. Our need today is to keep ourselves informed.

The Moon initially today forms an inconjunct to Saturn, and that lack of reliability and stability may prove to be a problem. Saturn in Capricorn is patient and calm, but Gemini energy and a lack of a stable plan will infuriate the great teacher, and we may be criticised or rebuked for not keeping our word, going off at a tangent or we might be put in our place. Luckily Gemini is more logical than emotional, so we may not be “hurt” by any put down, although we may need to adjust our ideas a bit, or talk ourselves out of a sticky situation.

The energy by the middle of the day gets much easier, as the Moon makes two nice looking trines, first to the Sun and also to Venus, both moving through the sign of Aquarius. Here are two air trines, so we can socialise, network and chat freely, and our actions will work well with our emotions and feelings. We can make good relations with people and they will appreciate our values and points of view.

You will have to be careful though as there is the proverbial fly in the ointment today. You see Venus is at 12 degrees Aquarius, and Neptune is at 12 degrees Pisces, and the Moon will aspect both at the same time. Now for imaginative purposes this is fabulous, as you can be creative, artistic, and use your feelings and senses to a high degree. There is colour and prose here, you can visualise and use intuition to amaze and mystify, and this my friends could be our problem late on today. These connections are sensitive, but also naïve, gullible, almost too sacrificial, so you can be deceived or taken advantage of. Of course, if you are the devious type, you may the energy to your advantage to dupe someone yourself. So, beware of the magician playing the old ball and cups game on you. He may let you win first up, but play 10 times and you’ll soon lose your shirt…!!

Astrology of the Day – Mars into Sagittarius - Friday 26th January 2018

remote
Moon opposite Mars - Changing channels

The Moon is in Taurus at the outset of Friday and there is a need to touch and feel and get back to nature that resonates with us all during this transit. This is a sign of making and building, of growing and cultivating and Taurus is known for the patience required to see anything through until the harvest when the fruits of your labour and hard work can be accrued. We will have tolerance for at least part of this day.

The Moon makes a trine to Pluto and there is intrigue this morning, and we may want to be challenged to test ourselves out. There is a love of solving problems, getting to a definite answer now and finding the truth of a situation. Pluto and Mercury are in a conjunction at the moment and the Moon goes on very quickly a trine to it too. There is a compulsion or even an obsession to chat and communicate now, and in a very deep and powerful manner. This is the aspect of high level powerful discussions, debate, agreements and speeches about high finance and big business, and it is very appropriate the the world leaders are now in Davos, Switzerland. In our own lives, we can investigate and interrogate others get to the heart of any matter.

A bit later on the Moon makes a sextile to Chiron, and this is a lovely little healing aspect that can teach us to be a little more outgoing and confident. Following on from this Mars leaves Scorpio and enters the outgoing sign of Sagittarius. Mars in this sign can be a little boisterous and can ride roughshod over other weaker souls. This position is very outgoing and fun, but Mars in sign can encourage us to take up too much or have too many irons in the fire, and then not have the desire to finish the job; in short it promises more than it can deliver. There isn't a lot of patience here and we won't like hanging around. The world is going to be in a hurry now for the next month, and things may get get out of control for a while.

The Moon moves into Gemini just after Mars changes signs, and then makes an instant opposition to the red planet. Here is irritation, changing moods, and potential anger if we are questioned or doubted. There may be an impulsive verbal reaction to anything that annoys us. To avoid this, keep your mind busy on other things, so why not read a good book, watch TV or a film, find out information on something or surf the web, or all of the above. This is the ultimate channel hopping aspect where you lose patience with something almost as quickly as you begin. There is a hectic end to the day, and I hope you can keep yourself occupied enough until we eventually run out of steam.

Astrology of the Day – Mercury sextile Jupiter - Thursday 25th January 2018

Connect the World - Mercury sextile Jupiter

The Moon is in calm and composed Taurus today and we will be happy to see everything as it is and we have known it to be. This is a sign that loves things to stay the same, it moves at it's own pace, unhurried, slowly, securely and in a measured way. The Moon in Taurus loves a bit of comfort and luxury too and it will work hard to achieve these aims, and we will do our bit to make sure that these needs are met. There is a good work ethic here today, and a sense that it's good to get back to basics, and to what we know.

The Moon early on makes a square to Venus, the ruler of Taurus which the Moon is in, and we will find that our feelings and emotions will be at crossed purposes with our values and how we relate to others. We may feel rather insecure today, and that inherent need for security and stability might play on our minds. Do we relate with or connect with others because we need to keep that security that we are craving, or do we compromise our vales to assure things remain the same? This square could see us going against what we want, or worse it could see us being vulnerable to being taken advantage of. We may unsettle others because we want affection and love a bit too much as well.

A bit later on there is another sextile between the Moon and Neptune, a lovely compassionate and kind aspect that sees our emotions turned towards showing a higher kind of love, through giving our time and considerations to those who need it. We will sense what is the right course of action now through tapping into our feelings and using our intuition. This a caring family link, and you may be wanting to nurture and to do what you can for your loved ones around you through little thoughtful actions.

Mercury late on makes a sextile to Jupiter and we will be generous with our thoughts and our deeds, and we may chat or gossip incessantly. There is a tendency to want to connect with those far away today, and friends who live in other countries may contact you, or you may have a need to contact with them. There may also be desire to get your message out far and wide and global visions may be expressed. It's a time when a message may go around the world, and something said or quoted may touch many peoples. The old problem with this aspect is keeping a hold on the smaller details, and generalisation may be something that we may be accused of.

There is one star planet connection today, and this sees Mars in connection with the star Toliman in the constellation of Centaurus, the Centaur. The Centaur in mythology suffered a fatal wound, and was unable to save himself even though he was a healer. This star takes on the story of wounding, healing and teaching and Mars linked up with it may suggest actions being taken that causes a wound or a fissure that needs healing or education to fix. I can imagine incidents to do with the police and emergency services, the military, sport, engineering or sex scandals to be in the news, and for lessons to be learned and new measures to be called for called for to solve difficult issues linked to these areas of life in relation to events that come to light today...

Astrology of the Day – Mercury conjunct Pluto - Wednesday 24th January 2018

The Hack - Mercury conjunct Pluto
The Hack - Mercury conjunct Pluto

The Moon starts today in the sign of Aries therefore we have drive, ambition, impatience and enthusiasm. We may be a little brusque, and the potential for us to act first and think later will be ever present. Our emotions will be very direct and we will go for exactly what we want, without thinking of the needs of other. Yes we can be just a little bit selfish in our attitudes this morning.

The Moon starts today in conjunction to Uranus, and this makes our moods rather unpredictable and cranky. You'll definitely want to do your own thing, you'll be fascinated with anything new and novel and you'll be in a mood not to comply with the wishes of anyone who wants you to do something. The Moon soon makes an inconjunct to Mars and if anything your impatience will be even stronger if someone or something holds you up, (this is an aspect that may indicate technical hitches) and you may be irritated if you have to adjust your the way you are doing something. You may have to change tack because something isn't working so well and somebody's unpredictable behaviour may also annoy you.

The Moon moves into Taurus in the late morning and this should settle us down emotionally. The Moon in Taurus is calm and peace loving, and doesn't want much fuss. Soon after this happens, Mercury moves into a conjunction with Pluto. This is a conjunction of powerful communication, deep thought, manipulation and suggestion. There is a desire to look for information under the surface, the hidden details or the secret message, and we can we can achieve much by relying on instinct and searching our souls. This is the aspect of the investigative journalist or the careful researcher, and there is the possibility of a media story coming out of the woodwork, maybe connected to anything Plutonian such as spying, investments, big business, unpleasant secrets, sex and intimacy or manipulative behaviour that makes us sit up and really take notice.

The Moon still has a couple of aspects to make before this day is done, and the first involves a trine to Saturn, an aspect of controlled emotion, of hard work and a desire to do this well without cutting any corners. We are loyal at this moment, honest and able to keep perspective on any situation, and this may be necessary as the Moon also forms a square aspect to the Sun, the first square in this particular cycle. This aspect indicates our emotions and actions are at cross purposes, and difficult situations, disagreements and emotional bust-ups could occur late on if we are not careful. Any upsets will unsettle us now, and in response we may put up the barriers around us to stop any more hurt coming our way. Try and keep your cool, even if you are being provoked and ride out the storm until the individual upsetting you calms down as well.
