Marg Helgenberger – CSI actress bowing out at the top. A look at her horoscope and her character

marg_helgenberger

Marg Helgenberger in the past few days announced that she had decided to leave the hit TV series CSI “Crime Scene Investigation”. I for one will be sorry to see her go, as it is one show that I have been hooked on since I discovered it – must be my Mars in Scorpio that draws me in. She leaves at the end of series 12 after an incredible 11 year run playing the character of Catherine Willows.

Marg befitting of someone who is in the programme a forensic detective, is a Sun Sign Scorpio, born on 16th November 1952 at 09.38am in Fremont, Nebraska. She has a cool yet very glamorous Aquarius Moon and a free and fun loving Sagittarius ascendant.  The Sun sits in the 11th house of friends groups and receiving love in conjunction with both Venus and Jupiter. This is a very fun loving combination full of optimism, love and generosity, yet also deep, emotional and secretive with it. Marg will be very popular with all her friends and colleagues and will be very generous to causes that she finds worthy. Marg’s mother did suffer with breast cancer, indicated by the Moon (which represents the mother) receiving a close square to Neptune which does weaken the health and a nasty inconjunct (150 degree) aspect from destructive Pluto. As such, this is a charity that Marg has taken to her heart.

MargHelgenberger natal

That Moon is in Aquarius in the 2nd house. This is a very caring place for the Moon to be placed and often you find this is the place of the social servant, somebody who needs to put themselves out to the public to be judged. In acting you put yourself out to be criticised every time she makes an episode. With the Moon in Aquarius, Marg will shine in the limelight and glare of the TV and film cameras, she will love the attention, but as with all Aquarius placements there will be a cool air to her, hard to get close to. This is echoed by Saturn sitting in her first house. The motivation behind her acting career will be monetary and the ability to build security and a comfortable life for herself. These she will closely guard and add to; often the houses of people with second house Moon are a veritable treasure trove, they never throw anything away and are great hoarders. Antiques and collectibles will definitely catch her eye.

Gathered around the Sagittarian ascendant we find Saturn and Mercury, Saturn in the 1st house and Mercury in the 12th. Marg will have a serious side to her personality. She will tend to be careful in any project she takes and will approach it in a mature and disciplined manner. She will appear as the strong and silent type, only offering up an opinion when she absolutely has to give one. Saying that, she will have a very methodical mind, excellent powers of concentration and no little intelligence; this is one smart lady. With Saturn and Mercury in trine to Uranus, she will embrace any technology and scientific forms of progress, so long as it can be proven useful to her; she will have a healthy scepticism of life in general. One thing that Marg will be very conservative in will be her beliefs. She will take her politics and faith very seriously, so much so that her she may prevent herself from appreciating other peoples point of views just through her own rather dogmatic ways. Marg is very stubborn having no less than 7 planets in fixed houses. When she digs her heels in, not even heaven and earth will move her.

We find Neptune in the 10th house of work and career. Neptune here often conveys a confusion especially when young in the direction one wants to go career wise. Neptune does have medical connotations and the desire to serve, and Marg growing up had a desire to be a nurse like her mother was. Notice the link back to the Moon in the social serving 2nd house, her mother (the Moon) cared for people. Of course, Marg found acting and Neptune here is a lovely fit as it rules creation films and TV. Neptune makes three connections to other planets, one to the Moon, the second to Jupiter in conjunction and third to Pluto in the 8th house. Both Pluto and Uranus are found here. Pluto in the 8th is strong sitting in it’s own house. It gives Marg an interest in death and the darker side of life. Before she took on her role as Catherine Willows, she visited autopsies in progress to research her role. Typical of a Sun sign Scorpio to go to exceptional lengths to get it right. Combine the 3 aspects to Neptune, Jupiter and it’s traditional connections to the law, the Moon and the need to be in the spotlight with Pluto and the dark side and you have the synopsis for CSI and the reason for her success. Indeed, had she not been an actress, her chart would have lead me to think that a career in investigation would have been very suited to her.

Uranus also is in the 8th and so Marg’s life at times will be subject to dramatic change, Uranus makes a trine to her ascendant, so all of a sudden she will cut her ties and go off in a new direction. True enough, when Marg announced her divorce to her husband Alan Rosenberg in Dec 08, transiting Uranus was square to her ascendant and quindecile to Pluto signifying a significant change in her life. Previous to December 2008, Uranus would have made a square connection to Mercury, ruling her 7th house of permanent relationships through Gemini on the cusp of the 7th. The problems with her husband would have started at least a couple of years earlier.

In love and in relationships, Marg will be passionate and very emotionally involved. This shown by Venus sitting in deep Scorpio opposite to Mars in the 5th house in Taurus. Mars opposite Venus is very amorous and very determined in getting the object of one’s desires. She will be very forward and determined, so when she falls for someone, she will make sure she gets her man. Mars in the 5th loves sport, competition and games of any description, there is a huge desire to be number one.  Marg will have huge reserves of energy, able to work and work until she drops. It takes a hell of a lot of commitment to do 12 series back to back of any TV series, let alone one as complicated and involved as CSI. She certainly had the commitment and desire, but now she has decided that it was time to move on. Looking at the transits it is easy to see why.

MargHelgenberger transit

Everything on Marg’s transit chart has been saying to her change. Uranus which I spoke of earlier has been sextile to her natal Moon, Cancer ruled by the Moon is on the cusp of the 8th house of change. Transiting Pluto is sextile to her natal Neptune, encouraging her to find a new TV role and is trine to it’s own position in the 8th house of change. the transiting North Node is exactly conjunct her ascendant, a shift in her life path is now due, and transiting Saturn is exactly conjunct her Midheaven, representing her public role. Saturn is reinforcing the message to be ambitious and to move on while she is at the top. Astrologically, for her it was exactly the right thing to do – maybe with Pluto & Uranus in the 8th house and an interest to unusual subjects like astrology, an astrologer advised her. Not myself I might add. With a great and successful TV career behind her now, I am sure it will not be long before she will find a suitable role to get her teeth into.

Amy Winehouse – Supremely talented, sadly flawed, dead at just 27. An astrological analysis of the iconic London born singer.

Amy-Winehouse

Amy Winehouse was been found dead in her London flat on 23rd July as a result of a suspected drugs overdose. I did just a few weeks ago I did a post about her and her horoscope and I suggested she was facing a real battle into the next year and so it proved. On doing the original post, I felt that there was a danger that Amy might not get through a very difficult period, however I took a more positive note at the time hoping that she would work her way through her drink and drugs problems. Unfortunately it was not to be. I have today found out a corrected accurate birth time and I have amended a few parts of the original post to give improved accuracy to my assumptions at the time. The main thrust of the article still holds together correctly and this the final version now with the corrected time of birth I hope shows a true astrological picture of the life of a most talented girl.

Initially posted 21st June 2011

Amy was born on 14th September 1983 in Enfield in North London; her birth-time finally being confirmed at 22.25, I have been informed of the birth time through some correspondence of one of my readers, the time is a recollection according to her mother. This gave Amy a creative 5th house Sun in conjunction to Mercury in precise careful Virgo. Her Moon was just into Capricorn and she had a chatty Gemini Ascendant.

AmyWinehouse natal

Ok, to the chart itself. Very interestingly and unusually, all the planets sit in pairs dotted around the chart. Amy was a perfectionist Sun in Virgo in close conjunction to Mercury in the creative 5th house. The Sun Mercury conjunction points to a creative influence she took from her father (the Sun represents the father in the natal chart), he was a jazz singer and obviously Amy took good note of her father’s abilities. Mercury is retrograde and inward looking, and she would have been self-critical and would have worried endlessly with regard to personal problems, which would constantly mull over and over in her mind. The Sun here in the 5th was creative and combined with the Gemini ascendant and the Mercury alongside, she needed to communicate. With a square to Neptune that communication came through in the form of her songs. Looking back it is even more poignant how the titles like “Rehab”, Love Is A Losing Game” and “Tears Dry On Their Own” are so autobiographical. The Moon in Capricorn is quite serious and responsible and if Amy did have her problems, she would refuse to ask for help and assistance. The Moon shows need. The need here was to work and create, to fulfil her ambitions but there was another need, the need to escape. The Moon is in close conjunction to Neptune the planet of music, but also of dreams and escapism. Neptune bestowed Amy with an emotional need to be creative, but also an emotional need to get completely lost and to get away from it all when she felt under pressure or down. The cocktail of the doubting Sun/Mercury conjunction and Capricorn Moon which refuses to ask for help with the escapist tendencies of the Moon/Neptune (they are in square aspect) was potent. She was technically (Virgo) a brilliant musician and singer (Neptune), but she doubted her ability and this doubt dragged her down.

The square between the Sun and Moon accurately describes the break up of her parents which happened when she was around 10 years old, and this I believe this added to the hurtful emotional baggage and doubt that she still carried around with her every day of her life. That retrograde Mercury conjunct to the Sun (representing her father) never lets one forget and turns the doubts over and over again in her mind.  When she felt troubled, she turned to drink, drugs and any other substances to deaden the pain she felt. The Moon/Neptune conjunction sat in the 7th house of relationships. Amy would need to be around people. She would have been gullible to meeting the wrong type of people and trusting them completely. I personally think her management and advisors were very much to blame to letting this impressionable sensitive soul go off the rails and exposing her to pressure when in truth she needed help.  If that wasn’t bad enough Jupiter and Uranus sat in conjunction in Sagittarius, unconnected to any other planets. This is excess, taken to excess!! When she started something, she didn’t know when to stop!! Maybe this explains why she had such problems, she couldn’t stop herself.  By the same token, the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction sat in her 6th house and gave her a constructive attitude to her daily work & she would have been inspirational to her fellow musicians in the recording studio. This would have been one of the few places she really would have felt at home. It is a very avant-garde aspect, ahead of her time, experimenting with new styles and fashions. Maybe this aspect went a long way to explaining why she seemed so cutting edge and able to experiment.

Moving to the Venus/Mars conjunction sitting in the 4th house. Both are in Leo and here is the show-woman who craved attention and liked to be centre stage. Mars/Venus is trine the Moon and Neptune. Performing on stage was her other escape from the pain of her day to day life. Neptune trine Mars is ultra glamorous and exudes charisma. Neptune/Moon trine Venus is kind and sympathetic and a very soft, kind heart lay inside Amy, however the type of men she was attracted to were likely to be the wrong type – so it proved to be. The Mars/Venus combination did give her a pushy air in love, she was the one who would have made the first move and I suspect made her quite difficult to live with. At home she would have craved a warm loving environment (Venus), but the reality would have been quite different as with Mars here, arguments and disputes would have often punctured the air. This rather chaotic home life would have upset her greatly and affected her upbringing. So problems at home and problems at school too. With erratic and revolutionary Aquarius on the cusp of the 9th house of education Amy was eventually expelled for failing in her studies and also for piercing her nose against school rules, transforming her looks. Her rebel  (Uranus/Aquarius) tendencies were too much for the school authorities.

This Venus/Mars and Moon/Neptune trine formed a grand mini trine with sextiles to Saturn/Pluto at the point of the formation. Here was the really troubling part of her chart. Saturn/Pluto will affect all that connects with it and wherever it is located in the chart, it brings disappointment failure and then transformation. In her love life (Venus /Mars), her marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil failed and he was sent to prison. I have not looked at his chart, but from the outside he seemed to be a very disruptive influence who introduced her to the drink and drug culture, although once she had found it through him or otherwise, the problems she experienced would have still caused her major problems. Later in her career, she had been blighted by disappointing live performances and drink/drug use affecting her so much that she was been forced into rehabilitation several times. Even her appearance was very Saturn/Pluto she often wore black, she had tattoos on her arms with strong long dark hair and striking features. She obviously took her music very seriously, and her jazz tinged style, the most complex of musical forms which is very dark and moody was a perfect for a mix of Saturn and Pluto. Saturn and Pluto most pertinently sat in the 6th house. This is the house of health. This combination would have weakened her constitution and made her especially vulnerable to any kind of ailment or substance affecting her wellbeing. The drink and drugs she became dependent on would not have helped the situation at all.

Now looking at the present, transiting Pluto had been transiting trough her 7th house for a little while and back in 2008 when her problems really started, it was conjunct to her natal Moon. This affected and was transforming her relationships, and crucially also affected her personal self worth (2nd house) which Cancer ruled by the Moon completely encircles. This transit would have dragged her down emotionally and at the same time weakened her already afflicted health – Scorpio ruled by Pluto is intercepted in the 6th house. It is quite sad that in the last few months, that debilitating Pluto influence was slowly moving out of range and both her transits chart and solar arc charts were looking quite optimistic. She had just finished an alcohol rehabilitation course after the Belgrade fiasco and was starting to work again. On the day of her death however, her Sun was square to Saturn and Pluto which is depressing and downtrodden, and her transiting Moon for that moment was opposite Saturn and Mars was making a square to her Sun and Mercury conjunction, so this was a brief window when she would have felt depressed. There was one other striking factor too. Transiting Pluto was almost exactly quindecile to her North Node and also on the cusp of the 8th house of transformation and death. This was destiny at work, when her death (Pluto/8th) would put her firmly into the public eye (North Node).

AmyWinehouse transit

I am convinced that astrologically Amy was on the mend, and that one brief down moment when her personal planets (Sun & Moon) were badly aspected contributed to her being depressed enough to take her over the edge. It is a crying shame that one so talented and shone so brightly is no longer with us. She was the voice of a generation and whilst her passing robs us of a uniquely talented singer and musician, her legacy and music will live on for generations to come.

My condolences to all her family, friends and fans. May she now rest in peace…

Justin Bieber – Discovered on YouTube, now being deleted from YouTube? A look at the horoscope of the teen pop idol.

justin bieber
The internet’s first mega worldwide pop star discovery, Justin Bieber is in danger of being banned by the very medium that discovered him in the first place. Bieber’s hit song, “Baby” has had so many “dislike” hits, (well over 1,000,000 at the last count) on YouTube, obviously by those either annoyed or envious by his success, that the video channel has been forced to consider pulling "Baby" off of the site, causing distress within Bieber’s army of female teenage admirers.

JustinBieber natal

Justin was born in Stratford, Ontario in Canada on 1st March 1994 at 00.56hrs. His Sun is in creative Pisces, he has a deep, hidden Scorpio Moon and an adventurous Sagittarius Ascendant. There are a couple of important things to note about the chart before I move on to look at the planets. Firstly this is a watery chary, six planets in emotional water signs and no planets in earth. As well as this, majority of the planets in this chart are either in fixed or mutable signs and there is only one in a cardinal sign. What do I make of this? Well a lack of earth is quite simple to explain. There is very little grounding to this lad, he will tend to lack practicality, resourcefulness and general common sense. Often those with a lack of earth planets tend to overcompensate by seeking that grounding in other people, expecting perfection and stability from them. Thus, he may be hard to live with, and he will tend to worry greatly. With a lack of cardinality in his chart, he will tend to follow trends and things that he knows, rather than pushing back the boundaries and trailblazing new forms of music. He will be reactive rather than visionary. In my view, a star for the moment, rather than one who will stay at the top lasting  the test of time. That’s not to say he will give up on music when his star wanes, this chart screams out creativity and he will continue to write and to play. Finally as an overview, almost all of the planets sit in the Eastern hemisphere, suggesting that Justin is interested in his self rather that considering the needs of others. Such an imbalance can lead to a certain level of selfishness.

Right looking at the planets and aspects within the chart, we have a loaded 3rd house including the Sun. Here we find Saturn, Mars and Mercury joining the Sun in Pisces which is intercepted in the 3rd. Venus also conjuncts this stellium from the 4th house sitting in Aries. Communication and the local environment will be important to Justin, however despite his worldwide fame, Justin will remain quite a reserved, even quiet character. The Saturn conjunct to the Sun sees to this, despite the more outgoing Sagittarius ascendant which suggests the temptation to live a party lifestyle. Justin’s father left his wife and remarried and this conjunction clearly illustrates a lack of love received from his dad. Pluto’s close connection with the Nodal axis shows a deeply close bond between Justin and his mother who brought him up as a single parent.

Justin will be attentive and keen for knowledge (Mars/Mercury) and  he will have a mental ability to be creatively constructive – by this I mean that his mind will work in poetic sort of way, song writing and creating lyrics will come naturally to him.  This creative urge will remain very high in his list of personal importance throughout his life. The Sun (along with Venus) trines to Jupiter bringing him plenty of optimism and making a wedge formation with the Midheaven a fair slice of luck in his public, home and work environment. The Mercury/Mars conjunction will also contribute to him a sharp temper which square to Pluto and trine to the Moon can come out in an emotional rage. He will have a sympathy and understanding to the needs of women and will always probing beneath the surface of any issue to get to the truth. Justin will be suspicious of other people’s motives, and this can lead to worry and irrational fears.

I get the feeling of the threat of paranoia over this chart. This is probably compounded by the Moon sitting in Scorpio in the 11th house. The Scorpio moon needs to know everything going on around you, and if it doesn’t panic may set in. This is a controlling, emotional Moon, bubbling under the surface. On the outside is calmness personified, on the inside is a cauldron of emotion. If Justin isn’t in control of his life, then trouble may brew for him. The other problem aspect on the chart is a square between Saturn and Pluto which conjuncts his ascendant. This can bring enormous success, but also personal breakdown and transformation.

He will have three places of solace as far as I can see. At home, on stage and with close friends. Venus in the 4th house brings a love of home-life and of family – he will feel settled here. With the Moon in the 11th house, close friends and groups he will be associated with, maybe charity based especially as Jupiter sits in the 12th house of serving and sacrifice. he will be very charitable to those less fortunate or people in need & this will bring him great joy and comfort. The last place of course is performing. Neptune sits with unpredictable Uranus in the 2nd house of money and finance. This conjunction explains exactly how Justin was discovered. Neptune in the 2nd often shows a career in creativity and Uranus rules technology. Where was Justin discovered? On the internet via YouTube.

Back in 2008 when he was found on YouTube by his future manager Scooter Braun, Justin’s Solar Arc chart showed up Justin’s fortunate discovery perfectly. Solar Arc Jupiter was bang on his Ascendant heralding a brand new international direction for him, as well as conjunct Pluto bringing him huge slices of success. Solar Arc Mars (ruling Justin’s 5th house of creativity with Aries on the cusp) was conjunct his natal Sun so moving forward in his creative pursuits and Solar Arc Sun was sextile natal Uranus highlighting the connection through the internet (Uranus through Aquarius) rules the 3rd house of communication. The luckiest of lucky breaks.

JustinBieber 2008
Right now the dream is well and truly alive with Neptune quindecile his Midheaven so his music and creation is being focused across the globe. However problems may lie ahead in the road. Transiting Neptune will soon connect with natal Saturn at 3 degrees Pisces which as I mentioned before squares Pluto and the Ascendant. This aspect will begin to show itself at the start of next year and will continue through until that start of 2014 when Neptune finally moves out of range. This is a slow transformation of the teenage Justin, which will move him on into a far more mature person. However with Saturn, Neptune and Pluto involved I fear this change will be a disorientating and quite difficult one for him. Moving from teenage pop sensation to a more mature adult star is an idea of the journey that awaits Justin with all the temptations of money, drink and maybe drugs (all ruled by Neptune here on this chart). I hope he keeps that serious head (which he does have) firmly on his shoulders.

Russell Brand – From drug addict to worldwide star

Russell Brand

In the past week, you haven’t been able to avoid Russell Brand on British TV as he has been on a publicity blitz for his new film “Arthur”. Through his distinctive style and his outrageous antics, Russell has been able to forge an international career from humble beginnings and has recently married to singer Katy Perry.

Russell was born on 4th June 1975 in Grays, Essex in the United Kingdom. I do not have an official birth-time but through rectification by looking at events in his life including his recent marriage, I estimate he was born close to 14.40 hrs. If anyone reading this article does know an official time of birth for Russell, please contact me and I will update the article accordingly.

A Sun sign Gemini, communication is everything to Russell, especially as Mercury also sits in the same sign; both occupy the 9th house of belief and knowledge. Russell has a socially aware Libran ascendant (if the birth time is correct) and a go ahead Aries Moon in the 7th house of partnerships. The Sun/Mercury conjunction in Gemini means that Russell has a restless, inquisitive mind, a thirst for knowledge and philosophy, for reading and writing. He will be very jovial, quick witted and sharp in reply, will always want to know what is going on in the world, and will have a fascination with foreign people, culture and language.

RussellBrand natal

The Sun is one corner of a very stressful mystic rectangle formation on Russell’s chart. on the other corners we find Pluto on the Ascendant, Neptune in the third house and Mars/Moon conjunct the descendant in the 7th house. Rectangles show great creative potential, and the energy will flow nicely around the edge of the rectangle however, the oppositions through the centre can cause all amount of trouble if the individual has not got everything in proportion. The oppositions in this particular rectangle are a Sun/Neptune opposition; a mutable Gemini/Sagittarius one and Pluto opposite Moon/Mars in cardinal Libra/Aries. Sun Neptune is extremely creative, dreamy and escapist. Sagittarius/Gemini is the Peter Pan of oppositions, child like extremely talkative, restless and wanting to know everything. A significant Neptune is almost always found in the charts of those in the arts, in film and in TV and Sun/Neptune is associated with alcohol and drugs. We all know the trouble that Russell has got into when he overstepped the boundaries of decency in his BBC radio show (he got fired) and hosting the MTV awards he insulted George Bush when he was President. He also went completely off the rails on drugs early in his media career becoming a heroin addict. The problem is that Sun/Neptune knows no boundaries and Russell doesn’t know when to stop.

The other opposition sees Pluto conjunct to the Ascendant opposite Moon/Mars in the 7th house. Pluto/Ascendant is very intense, Russell will provoke strong feelings in people about himself and he will often have to reinvent himself several times in his life. You can see the Scorpionic (Pluto rules Scorpio) influence with his strong features, wild hair and his preference for dressing almost always in black. Moon/Mars is the need to be first and he will wait for absolutely no-one. It indicates that his partnerships (7th house) will be stormy, even though the women in his life will be hugely important to him. Russell will be lost without being in some kind of permanent relationship. Russell has had “a lot” of relationships too, shown by Jupiter (the planet of excess) also in the 7th house conjunct to Moon/Mars. The opposition hints at control issues with regards within them, as well as magnetic ties between himself and the one he cares about. If those ties were to be broken, Russell would be hugely hurt and it may transform (once again) his whole persona.

Looking at the other planets I haven’t yet focused on, we find individualistic, rebellious Uranus in the first house square to Venus and trine to Mercury. Russell will do and say as he pleases and will not worry how anybody thinks, perfect for being a stand up comedian. Uranus/Venus indicates that he is easily attracted to unusual and talented women, but those attractions may end abruptly; he also will need plenty of freedom within those relationships. Venus and Saturn are found in the 10th house. Russell will take his profession very seriously and he will want to build a big work reputation, being very hard on himself if that reputation is ignored or not recognized. Venus here means that he will want to be admired for his artistic gifts and he will be married to his professional life, maybe even more so than with his partner.

Right now, Russell’s Saturn has just passed over his ascendant in the past year and Pluto is hanging around the cusp of the 4th house. He is starting a new 28 year cycle of growth which began with his marriage last year. Pluto correctly indicates his change of residence from London to Los Angeles as he pursues a Hollywood film career. Solar Arc Sun has progressed to conjunct with his natal Saturn and square Jupiter so professionally Russell is lucky and is moving on well with his career aims, and with the Solar Arc Midheaven trine his natal Moon he is favourably in the spotlight. More long term, it may well be that moving to the US he will be going through a slightly quieter period in his life as he establishes himself in America. Mind you, quiet in Russell Brand’s life is quite unlike 99% of most people in the world. Just because he is like he is and the fact that the mystic rectangle includes both his Sun, Ascendant, Mars and Pluto, his life will be shaken up again in a new way before too long.

Bryan Ferry – Roxy Music frontman suddenly taken ill

Bryan-Ferry

Bryan Ferry, lead singer of Roxy Music and 70’s pop icon who had success with such hits as Love is the drug and Avalon, has suddenly been taken ill and admitted to hospital with a mystery illness which meant he had to pull out of a Tuesday night performance in London. This could jeopardize a forthcoming 3 month European tour that he was about to undertake this summer.

Bryan was born in the North East of England in Washington, County Durham on 26th Sept 1945 at 11.30am. He has a sociable Libran Sun with a restless Gemini Moon and deep intense Scorpio Ascendant. Taking a quick view of his chart, the first thing I notice is a lucky Sun Jupiter Neptune Mercury conjunction in the 10th house of career square Mars and trine the Moon. Jupiter trine Moon also makes a mini grand trine with Pluto at the point. The stellium in the 10th house speaks of successful (Jupiter) creative (Neptune) communication (Mercury) to the public (in Libra), in this case musical. Seeing that Bryan is still pushing himself to do sell out tours at age 65 is testament to that square between Mars and Neptune, Jupiter and Sun which gives him the energy to keep on performing for his fans. He literally will love what he is doing, Mars Jupiter is an aspect where one never feels satisfied, always wanting to improve and do your best and Mars Neptune shows pure charisma. . Sun Neptune Mars is very artistic and not only has turned his had to music but also art and fashion. Bryan is a smart guy, with Uranus in Gemini and Aquarius intercepted in the 3rd house, he has a very inquisitive mind and he would have excelled at school, which he did studying art (Venus in 9th house of education).

BryanFerry natal

Known for his slick style and black suits, this is very much a signature of his ascendant sign, as is the name of his hit “Jealous Guy”, which is very Scorpio indeed. The Moon in the 7th house in changeable, unemotional Gemini squares to Venus in the 9th house and there is a sextile to Pluto also in the ninth. Through this one would know that Bryan’s emotional life would be very complicated and that he would have a fascination to foreign women. Bryan had many relationships in his life, he went out with Jerry Hall before she left him for Mick Jagger, he married having 4 children then divorced, went out with a women 35 years his junior etc. etc. I think one of the reasons that Bryan has had turmoil in his relationships is that Saturn in Cancer fears emotional closeness and reliance on others, so he tends to keep his distance. With Saturn tenanted in the 8th house, Bryan also would be careful to keep his finances separate from other people and would be fearful of change and the unknown and things he could not control.

BryanFerry transits

Now looking at the transits chart and the reasons for Bryan’s sudden illness, we can see that his chart, especially the 4 planet stellium in the 10th house is under severe stress. The conjunction is receiving oppositions from Uranus and Mars  (a shock to the system) and a square to transiting Pluto; Pluto square Sun always means a change in your life is necessary. Pluto also trines his Midheaven and opposes his natal Mars. The mystery illness is shown by the ruler of the 6th house (Taurus) represented by Venus being opposed by Neptune (clouding the issue). Neptune is now in Pisces and Venus is in Virgo which is always a health axis on a chart. I suspect the shock nature of Uranus Mars opposing the Sun could be a heart condition of some type, the Sun has always traditionally ruled the heart. Certainly the planets will be telling Bryan to slow down a bit.

Oprah Winfrey – Calling it a day after 25 years, the astrological profile of the Queen of Daytime chat.

oprah_new

On 25th May, the last Oprah Winfrey show will be broadcast, ending a most remarkable career. Since 1986, the Oprah’s show has been a fixture on US television, and the host has become a household institution loved by all. Whenever a person is recognisable just from her Christian name, you know they have “made it”. Oprah certainly made it, from literally rags to riches, from a poor Mississippi family to become probably the most recognisable TV host on planet earth. I look at the astrology of a lady who embodied the American dream.

Oprah was born on 29th January 1954 at 19.50 in Kosciusco, Mississippi in the United States. She has a humanitarian Aquarius Sun, backed up by a free and easy Sagittarius Moon and a precise Virgo Ascendant. Her Sun and Venus are virtually exactly conjunct, just one minute (60th of a degree apart) in the 5th house of entertainment. Aquarius conveys a star quality and Oprah shines with it, kind, fun loving, sociable, sympathetic, popular yet independent and a bit detached, as all the great interviewers have to be.

WinfreyOprah

This merged Sun Venus is quindecile Pluto in the 10th house, square Saturn in the 3rd house and sextile Moon in the 4th. These three planets tell the story of Oprah’s upbringing. Her Sun/Venus is very afflicted by Saturn and Pluto; in astrology the Sun represents the father. Here Pluto is retrograde in the 12th house, hidden away and Saturn square the Sun shows a difficult, cruel upbringing. Oprah was the product of a short relationship and she was brought up in poverty by a single teenage mother, she never knew her father. Oprah suffered sexual abuse as a child from members of her family, again Pluto in the hidden 12th house square to Mars in Pluto’s own sign of Scorpio representing abusive actions of a sexual nature affecting her. With Mars in the 3rd house we know that the abuse came from her local environment, from those close to her.

The one thing when she was young that everyone noted about Oprah was her confidence in speaking and performing. Obviously when we look for communication, we look to Mercury. Oprah’s Mercury really is the centre of her chart in the wide conjunction to Sun/Venus,every other planet on the chart in some way feeds into this conjunction. There is a trine to Jupiter in chatty Gemini – here is curiosity in the purist form, needing to know everything, asking questions and a general interest all kind of media. Jupiter is in the 10th house of work and career and also opposite the Moon, so there is emotional involvement her work and an international element too. Oprah’s personable style has influenced hundreds of copycat shows all around the world. The Moon in Sagittarius sextiles into it from the fourth house; she is proud of her roots, protective of her own family, her Afro American roots and nation and heritage. Oprah will have many friends, is always out for a good time, laughing and joking has plenty of optimism and a philosophical side to her nature, she will empathise with those with problems and will attempt to them cheer up or provide a shoulder to lean on. Pluto makes an opposition with Mercury giving Oprah a forensic mind, delving into the depths to find out the truth in any situation; she is a natural investigator and a forceful powerful speaker able to influence people with the force of her own convictions, however she will rarely if ever reveal her own motives or weaknesses. Neptune is also trine to Mercury in the second house, it is in a imaginative mood and often people with this placing will make money through creative pursuits. Here is an idealism about the use of money. With the Sun/Venus/Mercury in social, humanitarian Aquarius and Uranus in the Aquarius ruled 11th house, there is a huge pull to helping people. Oprah has probably been the most generous black American woman ever, her charity foundations contributing $80 million to various causes.

I think the key to her was the sympathetic, yet direct and emotional way she treated her guests, the first chat show host to strike a chord especially with the women of the world. One look at her closest midpoint (which is exact) shows the point. Neptune (associated with TV and creative pursuits) sits exactly at the midpoint of Moon and Ascendant (the combination of her emotions and her public face). Emotions particularly strike a chord with women. One other point to note. Oprah’s Moon almost exactly hits the US ascendant, there is a direct link between her emotions and the American psyche, an almost perfect fit – she was born to communicate with the US people and for them to respond favourably to her.

It is interesting that Oprah’s media career started as Neptune was in the last degree of Sagittarius and she announced her stepping down from her show after a glorious career as Neptune hit the last degree of Aquarius. I have noted how many famous women passed away as Neptune hit the last degrees of a sign (see Elizabeth Taylor, Geraldine Ferraro this month). Here is another leading lady leaving the spotlight, this time stepping down from daily TV, a different manifestation of the same aspect. Indeed Oprah was a special talent who rose to the top through sheer talent and enthusiasm.

Chris Brown – Having problems dealing with his temper

Chris Brown

The R&B artist Chris Brown has caused a storm by trashing a dressing room after being interviewed on Good Morning America. He was constantly questioned about his relationship problems with singer Rihanna which ended with Brown being prosecuted over an assault.

Chris was born on 5th May 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia in the US (unfortunately I don’t have a birth-time). On that day there was a new moon so Brown is a double Taurus. This Sun Moon combination is really afflicted, with a very controlling and intense opposition to Pluto in secretive and jealous Scorpio. This opposition makes him ultra stubborn, ultra possessive and ultra jealous. The opposition forms a wedge with Saturn and Neptune in Capricorn at the point and Saturn/Neptune is in wide conjunction to Uranus which makes an opposition to Mars. All that emotional, controlling energy from Pluto Sun & Moon is thrown into a serious attitude (Saturn) to creation and music (Neptune). Pluto in Scorpio has thrown up a whole generation of young adults who have a dark, underground culture and this has come out in the success of urban rap & R&B.

ChrisBrown

Jupiter and Mercury sit in conjunction relatively alone in Gemini. Here is the need to communicate to a wide international audience, getting the message of his music out to the world. This position shows he has a quick versatile mind, a way with words and lyrics and is especially good for careers in TV or communicating with the public.

Saturn on Chris’ chart is retrograde which always points to problem in some way with his father. When I see this I know that either the father was away for long periods of time, was aggressive and cruel or just did not show love to him in the normal way. In Chris’ case his parents divorced and then his mother’s boyfriend was violent to her. You can see the problems, Pluto opposite Sun (Father) and Moon (Mother), the relationship disintegrated (Pluto), there was cruelty (Pluto). All this angst as well as the emotion, possessiveness and jealousy that I wrote of earlier is brought with him into his music and his relationships. Add in the Uranus/Mars opposition which is volcanic, Chris has a temper that can erupt at any time at the slightest provocation, and you can see the potential for assault and violence.

The big problem with Chris is realising that he has a problem. Saturn/Neptune is somewhat delusional, you cannot accept reality as it is. As such, Chris will never accept that he will be in the wrong. Colonel Gaddafi has the same type of problem – he has a Saturn/Uranus conjunction trine Neptune. Slightly different configuration but with a pretty similar outcome.

Right now the current Saturn/Jupiter opposition is square Chris’ natal Saturn so he faces a difficult time (Saturn) and maybe legal (Jupiter) action against him. Transiting Venus is square natal Venus so those allegations about relationships (Venus) are surfacing again in a public (Venus) way. Transiting Jupiter is square natal Neptune leaving him confused and disorientated (Neptune) and in the news (Jupiter is in Gemini conjunct Mercury ruling the press) around the world (Jupiter). Transiting Pluto has over the last couple of years been connecting with Chris’ natal Uranus and opposite natal Mars. This nasty opposition is reckless and unpredictable at the best of times, but add in Pluto and it becomes dangerous. The nature of Pluto is unrelenting and it will force him to accept his responsibilities in one way or another. I rather fear that Chris will learn the ultimate lesson in 2014 when Pluto sextiles it’s own position, conjuncts Saturn and  his Sun/Moon conjunction. Here is the potential for some sort of transformation. Hard to tell how it will finally manifest itself as I don’t have a birth-time, but for sure Chris will at that time be learning some difficult lessons.

Britney Spears – The Pop queen back in the limelight, this time wiser and stronger

britney-spears

Britney is back!! The teenage superstar who hit the heights so early in her career, and then came crashing down to earth with an almighty thud, is returning next week with a brand new album called “Femme Fatale” due to be released on 29th March. So far her debut single release from that album “Hold it against me” shot into No.1 on the Billboard charts and the new album promises to propel Britney back to the top of the pop music scene.

Britney was born on 2nd December 1981 in McComb, Mississippi at 1.30am. She has a lively Sagittarius sun, a sociable Libran Ascendant and a glitzy Aquarius Moon. Britney has four planets sitting in the 3rd house of communication, the Sun, Mercury, Uranus which are in conjunction and also Neptune. Britney has definite need to communicate. She has a bright, lively mind, will be interested in technology or advances of some sort, so important in this internet age in connecting with the younger generations, and of course Neptune highlights a interest in artistic pursuits, music, dance and creativity. Britney has used the media (3rd house) brilliantly in the past to keep her profile in the spotlight. Complementing this is the Moon in Aquarius in the 5th house. Aquarius moons often bestow star good looks and in the 5th house there is an emotional pull to the entertainment industry and to children, of course Britney first hit stardom through the Mickey Mouse club – it all links up when you look doesn’t it? Venus sits in the 4th house in Capricorn; Britney is a girl who needs love and attention, but away from the stage you wouldn’t know it as she will have a cool demeanour. She would have come from a warm happy home and this is where she will return to when she feels in trouble as Venus conjuncts the South Node. Her mother will always be a source of comfort and stability for her. Mars sits in the 12th house in perfectionist Virgo and aspects both Venus and Neptune. A lot of the creative energy that has lasted her 20 years so far in the entertainment’s industry comes from here. She will work tirelessly until she gets things right, often being irritable and awkward to work and live with, until she achieves exactly what she wants. One thing for sure, she’s a girl who won’t give up on her dream.

Finally I focus on Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter who sit in wide conjunction straddling the first and second houses. If you want to see Britney’s career in a nutshell, just look at these 3 planets. Saturn in the first house is very exacting, making you very serious about all your endeavours. Here is a mature, even cold side to Britney, relationships will be difficult because of the inability to relax and turn off from her work. Here is the person who needed to grow up quick and so that childhood so necessary for a balanced adult life was compromised. The Saturn aspects Neptune, Venus and the Moon linking a disciplined interest into the entertainment world. Pluto conjunct Saturn also sits in the first house. Pluto in the first always indicated reinvention of the personality, a phoenix rising from the ashes. Here is the breakdown of Britney in her mid 20’s unable to cope with everything that stardom threw at her. Here also is the transformation from teen star to sex symbol career wise and as Pluto is sextile Neptune the breakdown by use of drugs and alcohol needing rehabilitation.

Moving onto Jupiter which sits just into the second house. Pluto and Jupiter are always a sign of making money, and with Jupiter in the 2nd house, money is one thing Britney will never be short of, and she will know how to spend it big too. Jupiter also highlights the return to the top after the dark times. As the Solar Arc ascendant hit in turn Saturn, then Pluto then Jupiter you can see the life history progression. At 16/17 it hit Saturn and the child star became world superstar with all the heavy responsibilities of this, at 23/24 as it hit Pluto the breakdown forcing her to change despite some limited success with Pluto trine the Midheaven. Now at age 29 it has hit Jupiter which closely trines the Midheaven. Solar Arc Jupiter is also conjunct natal Uranus which is lucky and fortunate and will sextile her Ascendant next year. She returns probably bigger and better than before; this is going to be the year of all years for Britney and this time she will be able to handle it due to the experiences she had in the past. Good luck to her, the pop queen is back for one more time…
